Spam, which is worse
Seeing as how people comment on Spammers all the time on here I am curious...
What frustrates people more? Email spam that is easily sent to cyber-hell, or the real spam that ends up in your home mailbox on a daily basis only to end up in a landfill for our children to deal with? What is worse? I'm not advocating for email spammers (or even supporting them), but it pisses me off that the government is spending money finding and prosecuting these guys while they don't do anything to the people responsible for producing thousands of lbs of trash a day. Or what about the people who hand out flyers on the street that end up thrown on the ground unread or those flyers on my windshield which suffer the same fate? I think it is time we get our priorities straight.

If the government received money for email spam like they do for snail mail postage, email spam wouldn't be much of an issue, sans the adult orientated material of course.

Agreed, I have also made this observation some time ago. But then it occurred to me that there is money being made through email spam through taxes levied on hosts, ISP's, etc. So they are still making their share of the pie. So I'm not sure how strong an argument this is, but I am sure that to the government it all has to do with dollars and cents.

Not the insane amount of money telco's have to spend on servers, network, man power, internet backbone, storage, programs, etc for the billions of spams sent to people who do not want their quadruple opt-in porn, pills, and penis shit. ![]() |
