Well, I appreciate the honesty and the question.
I always ask for opinions on talent to help me decide if webmasters would appreciate certain shows. I don't ask names like NIN to be a tease, I do it because I'm seriously interested in booking them.
But in the end, I throw names out there to get the interest in sponsors.
When I throw out a name and I find out they're available, then it's a reality as long as the webmasters are prepared to become sponsors. When I don't get the sponsor support, we go from Kid Rock type of names down to Metal Skool. And Metal Skool will be dope for a rock show, but if I had my choice, I'd go bigger budget. But like I said, if we can't get the support from the people who pay for it, we can't do it.
And once I threw the name Snoop Dogg out there, ended up not getting him. But then the next year, we got him. So don't be surprised when I do land one of your favorite big names. Rock is just harder to book when they're not on tour. I don't throw names out there to be a tease though, I do it with the intent on making it happen. |
