Shipping porn to Canada

If a content provider ships some miniDV tapes, cds or DVDs with porn to Canada, when the package goes through customs do they actually go through the package and check the media contents (ie view the porn etc..) ? Is it legal to ship porn from out of the country into canada?

Well, porn DVD's and other media go thru the same immigration/customs process as any other media. So it goes thru the same routine as regular media, they may open the package and search, but they won't keep it to make sure its really porn. They see a DVD, done, clears customs, next package, no difference between regular DVD and porn DVD to customs.

Yes, its perfectly legal to ship porn into Canada, so long as the DVD contents is legal (ie: not Child Porn).

Back in the early 90's some drug dealers made a killing shipping laptops with cocaine filled lcd screens.

I wonder if they have figured out how to compose a dvd (since its thicker & heavier) completely out of coke.

shipping porn into Canada can be problematic..tho not as bad as in the past.

The problem is that each customs officer is a law unto himself...if he finds personally finds the material 'beyond the pale' , the material can be seized and you're out of luck.

The problem has eased in recent years with a number of high profile cases that have gone against the government but importing can still be a problem....

anything outside of the 'norm' can be iffy ie depictions of anal sex, fisting, etc.

Lets be realistic.

Tell whoever is shipping them to buy one of those CD envelopes, put the DVDs etc. inside, pay for express post, label it as "personal home videos", value $20 (or whatever the value of the media is) and label it as GIFT on the little green paper.

There is a 99% chance that you will get it in a few days with no problems what so ever, worst case scenario, you pay a few bucks GST, PST (?) and processing fee. Nothing illegal about it.

Just do what RK said.

my name must be on a list then

everything and i mean everything i order from the states has been opened and checked ( and taxed)

and it's even worse since 9/11... last time i ordered stuff it took over two months to arrive... at least it was tax free.

customs can be such a bitch -- especially when the duty tax comes into play.

Just label it electronic document. Like it was said, they are all a law onto them selfes. Why get into the aggrevation to have to deal with them. Then they will have you on their list, and get your ass ripped every time.

It would depend on who you use for your customs broker. FedEX clears shit fast and will pretty much get anything across. But there have been times where customs have seized my partners order of dvds (1000's of them) because they're adult related and needed to be viewed and some fucking whacked out price per hour of viewing, imagine, getting paid to watch porn!

I buy my content and have those content cd's shipped to me in Canada all the time. Have never had a problem!

I even had a buddy ship me posters via fedex and they came right away. He labelled those promotional posters. No problems.

I have had packages stopped at customs for containing adult content. It is much easier if the package does not say it contains adult content, and is packaged discreet. In other words, Content providers dont have to stamp their logo all over the box or cd's, package it discreet and it will get there quicker.
