I am buying a website ($10k+) from someone in Romania. It is an entire website and not just a domain name. Escrow.com does not support this country. Does anyone have advice on how to handle a transaction like this? Past experiences?

I'm thinking half payment after domain transfer, then remaining payment after web server transfer. Maybe there's still a possibility for a scam with this process? |

I bought a site from a guy in Moscow for 1500.00 that now does at least that much each month. Was the first site I ever bought and of course I sent via wire.

I just did my research on the guy via the forums to make sure he didn't have a bad rep. I had a good feeling about him after doing the research so I did the trasaction and everything worked out good. Just know who you are dealing with, and use your gut feeling. You can get scammed from any country. But don't be stupid in your deal just because you want it bad or need to sell it.

Due diligence is key. Have you at least spoken over the phone? Do they have an established company? I wouldn't pay for anything until I got the goods FIRST!

It sounds like you're on the right track though, half after you get the domain and the other half after the site transfer. I've been lucky in the past 10 years and never gotten scammed, usually if it smells bad it is bad. just my 2 |
