I give him credit for working hard and showing his dedication, but there are thousands of other fights who work just as hard if not a lot harder that deserve it as well. :)

Yeah, but those thousands of others don't have the pull Kimbo does. It was truly a business decision.

On another note, Sean Gannon posted this on the UG.

Round 1 Kimbo charges in, goes right for a takedown. Mercer grabs the cage but he goes down. Mercer up, they fight in the clinch. Big knees by Kimbo land. Mercer strikes but Kimbo answers with a combo and gets a double leg. Kimbo fighting, gets Mercer in to a choke. Mercer taps. Kimbo Slice wins by guillotine choke submission in round 1.

and i get to take credit for "introducing" him to the move :)
Hilarious!!! Their fight, Gannon was choking Kimbo out with the Guiolltine. :)

If you put Kimbo in there now with an accomplished fighter you might get a good buy rate, but Kimbo will most likely get exposed quickly as he has only been training a short time. That would be unfair to him, as he is taking this seriously and needs more time.

Kimbo seems to have some potential, and Bas raved about him. Give him time to learn and build himself up slowly and you may actually have something besides a one hit wonder.

Brock also has a very big attitude problem and a big fucking head on his shoulders. He seriously hurt someone i knew a few years back for making a comment about one of his matches. He also broke Chris Benoit neck on a airplane after they got in a arguemet. Thats one of the reasons the WWE bought out his contract and sent him on his way.

Cant take anything away from his skills thu. One hell of a NCAA wrestler and freakish strength. Hopefully Brock has grown up now mentally for his safety and the safety of who ever he is fighting . You one bad bitch if you can suplex a 7 foot 2 535 pound man like he did lol

He never broke Chris Benoit's neck...where did you get that? The WWE badly wanted Brock to stay but he wanted to leave and pursue the NFL. The WWE didn't buy out Brock's contract...Brock left in the middle of it. That is what caused him problems later on when he didn't make the Vikings and wanted to wrestle in Japan.

did anyone catch kimbo slipping up during his victory interview. Started to say nigga's but then changed it to dudes lol

The flight you are talking about was the European tour a few years ago, and the incident was between Curt Hennig, who was pissed drunk, and Brock Lesnar. Hennig was screwing around trying to amateur wrestle Brock, and they both fell and crashed into the exit door when the plane was in flight. Curt Hennig got fired over the incident. Billy Kidman was injured during that tour and wasn't even on the flight...

Im sure next fight will be better.

Just look on the WWE website and you can see the discrepancy on the dates. Chris Benoit ruptured the disc in his neck in 2001 during a botched spot in the TLC match, and he had neck surgery. Brock Lesnar didn't even make his WWE debut until March 2002. Here is a link about the flight http://www.onlineonslaught.com/colum...20040331.shtml

Anyways, I'm still waiting on a link, I really do hope to see some improvement in Kimbo's game. It would be great to see him make something of himself in MMA, and if he is dedicated to bettering himsekf and becoming a smarter fighter as opposed to just a brute brawler, this is a good thing. He obviously has raw power and the ability to take a punch. I agree that it is too early to through him in too far over his head, however I don't think he has been challenged to a point where I can confidently state that he is going to be a great fighter.

Profits of Doom 06-23-2007 11:42 PM

This is actually a much more credible link to the flight incident http://www.mikemooneyham.com/pages/v...75BF1F16938D30

The specific claims have Flair prancing around in one of his robes (and nothing else) and insisting that one attendant meet "Li'l Naitch"... Hall propositioning one attendant for a BJ at 20000 Feet and licking another one inappropriately :1orglaugh

GOOD WORK KIMBO!

I'm impressed, what can I say! He came out the agressor, brought out some good knees, kept the pressure on, nice takedown, easily slipped out of a clinch, and threw on the guillotine quick. I really didn't expect this from Kimbo. He has gained alot more of my attention for future fights. I want to see where Kimbo can go with more training now...

While he might nothave been an incredible opponent, the fight still goes to show that Kimbo is definitely developing base to work from. He seemed to know exactly what he was in there to do and how to do it. Now its a matter of continuing to train and working his way up through some fights. I'm still not confident that he will be a great MMA fighter, but he can surely stand in there...

RevSand 06-24-2007 02:22 AM

Kimbo showed to me that he did take it serious. He had alot more good and mixed attacks going for him then I expected. I expected him to simple just come out thuggin and just try to beat they guy down like he has been so successful at so far, instead he had some good clean kicks goin and won by submission.

Bump for Kimbo :)

Lance69 06-24-2007 09:21 AM

Finally watched the vid. I thought Kimbo looked pretty good. Solid base, worked position on the ground, stayed relatively tight in the clinch , delivered good knees. This was a good warm up fight for him before he actually takes on an MMA fighter. Everything I've been hearing is he is an animal in training with a lot of heart. And heart is something you can't train. I wanna see Bas turn him in to a wrecking machine.

where are all the "copyright infringement, the sky is falling!!" people that end up in any other thread when it is adult links to copywritten stuff that is being linked or talked about LOL :1orglaugh

or maybe CFFC authorized making this available on youtube for promo reasons?

don't get me wrong, I was quick to click the link and watch the fight for free too, and am grateful that it is available for me to do so :thumbsup

Digipimp 06-24-2007 11:56 AM

alright i predicted mercer to knockout kimbo to start with. but i'll have to say after seeing the fight you can see that the guy is taking it serious, and he's a good listener or student of the mma game. he went into his very first fight in the cage and did thug it out a little, but only a little. yeah he was against a guy who doesnt really do mma, but at least in the middle of a fight his insticts were to go with what he's been learning.

he showed some good control from the clinch, good muay thai knees, elbows, a little ground control and then when grabbing mercer he quickly got his legs around him and wrapped him up for the tapout.

the real question on him has been how would he take to mma, would he go back to just street thugging or would he develop well. i'd have to say from watching this as his first steps, he's gone the right way and takes the teaching and training well.

boneprone 06-24-2007 12:20 PM

Mercer...

Shame on you for tarnishing your name with this shit....

Why....

He had no chance.. Even as a legit former boxer in this stage of his life a kid in Golden Gloves could have their way with him..

Just horrible.

Where's your grace at.
Sad.

d-null 06-24-2007 12:22 PM

MMA is getting more and more like WWE

boneprone 06-24-2007 12:22 PM

Take Abbot. Another guy 12 years past his prime.

Kimbo will wipe the floor with him with people tuning in thining its Tank from 1996.

If it was the 1996 version of Tank it would be a great fight.

But its not.

Just another jobber with a past.

Kimbo's people are smart......

ITs exactly what Id do if I were them.

I tip my hat.

Nothing wrong with that at all.

You figure WWE has made Billions on hyping and promoting fights that arent even real..

MMA could learn some things from them.. Boxing couldnt evolve...

People love and tune in to drama.

Most the time its better than the fight itself.

The marketing and hype is the real battle...

Get people in the seats.. Then give em a product even if it fails to deliver you can end it with them wanting more if you are smart..

Tank Abbott thing, smart....
