I put a little money on Mercer at +190, not so much as a play on Mercer as it was a value bet. If I can get Mercer at over +200 then I will put a little more on him. If I can get those kind of plus odds on a fight that I see as a coin flip then I have to take it.Comment

Interestingly enough they are fighting this as an exhibition with no judges ringside scoring the fight. That means the fight won't even go on their pro MMA records...Comment

yeah that happens generally when one camp is trying to pull out of the fight because they dont feel their fighter is ready or will have a good shot at things. i cant say who's side it would be but i would guess its kimbo's as mercer already has pro mma fights and wasnt afraid to take a loss.
its like when tommy morrison made his pro debut just recently, the camps couldnt agree and morrison's camp didnt want a full on mma fight, and the commission wasn't sure on his hiv status and bla bla bla, they ended up fighting basically a boxing match rules exhibition which favored morrison easily and he got his first win.
i wouldnt be surprised if something like that happened with this one between the camps and the commission.Comment

Crowd chants for Kimbo. Mercer comes out to "Momma Said Knock You Out" by LL Cool J. Mixed cheers and boos for Mercer but most people want to see Kimbo. Kimbo comes out to "This Is Why I'm Hot", clearly showing Melvin Guillard's cultural influence. Everyone is on their feet. Cheers drown out boos when Mercer is announced, but the crowd is erupting for Kimbo. They only announce him as "Kimbo" without the Slice. What happened? They jaw a bit during the standoff, crowd is on fire.
Round 1
Kimbo charges in, goes right for a takedown. Mercer grabs the cage but he goes down. Mercer up, they fight in the clinch. Big knees by Kimbo land. Mercer strikes but Kimbo answers with a combo and gets a double leg. Kimbo fighting, gets Mercer in to a choke. Mercer taps. Kimbo Slice wins by guillotine choke submission in round 1.Comment
