Do you live in vegas? Or have you? Raised there? I need some info about the city, not the strip. Thinking about moving there and don't want to move into a bad neighborhood. Zip codes would be great, or school districts. I don't have a gazillion dollars so do move me to 90210.
I would appreciate any help, icq me if you like, thanks.

If you don't want to move into a "Bad Neighborhood" anywhere in the United States..you better have some money.
My sister moved into a 150k+ neighborhood & its turned into ghetto-town USA in less than a year.
Now you have to spend 200k+ to buy into a decent neighborhood & escape the ghetto. -
no sure where you're talking about, but in the Bay Area, $200k won't buy you shit. You will not find a 1 bedroom condo for that.... you won't find anything for that..... not even in the ghetto.Originally posted by pr0

I recently bought a 3 Bedroom house in Green Valley. Paid 165K. It's not the best neighborhood, but it seems nice and quiet. Been here for almost 4 months, and I'm happy.Comment

I live in Green Valley, part of Henderson....I fucking love it...close enough to the strip for when the relatives come to town, but far enough away to avoid the fucking tourists....decent housing in the area will run about 150K+ but I've seen a few cheaper in the area....
I know the ARS guys live out in the Northest area in Summerlin, a little pricier there, but still close to Green Valley, pricewise....
your best bet is to avoid anything too close to the strip and parts of North Las Vegas (especially the area West of Martin Luther King/Lake Mead to Cheyenne and east of Rancho between MLK and Cheyenne....
If you have any other questions, shoot me an email [email protected] There are a bunch of us porn types in the Vegas area

depends on where it is.... values vary wildly there.... it could easily pull $1 mil if it's in the right place and condition.... my girl here did a loan for Greg Kihn last year for I think $3 or $4 mil.... problem with Cali is people are willing to pay outrageous prices, hence, they just keep going up. The regular guy gets fucked.... damn near gotta have 9 roommates to rent a studio apartment there anymore...Originally posted by laura99
Well Cali is weird anyways lol. We live in a 3500 sq ft house in Indy and paid 92,000 for it. Live in a historical area. I think houses are cheap in Indiana tho. My house would probably be $400,000 in cali.SIG TOO BIGComment

Also avoid anything near the intersections of Losee and Lake Mead Blvd.Originally posted by SykkBoy2

I made a mistake of driving through there when I first moved here and it was like something out of cops...guys on the streets walking up to your car to sell crack etc.For rent - ICQ 127-027-910

Actually what he said was more along the lines of...and I'm paraphrasing here...."Martin Luther King was against violence, but go to any town and find a martin luther king boulevard and you're gonna find some violence."Originally posted by laura99
Thanks. I think it was Chris Rock that said "no matter what city you are in, don't go near Martin Luther King Drive, it's the ghetto" lol. I think it's true. I know it is in Indy!

We're renting at the moment...we just moved back to Vegas (tried Arizona for a bit and hated it)Originally posted by laura99
How are your payments on a $150k house? Is it a 30 year loan? Just curious what the property taxes are like.
Vegas is great due to all the builders being so competitive....there are a lot of 3% down deals in the masterplanned communities, so you can get into a $150K place for $4500 plus closing costs....and a $150K home here would go $250-300K in LA (even more in some areas)
http://www.carinahomes.com/newhome.asp awesome communities, great prices....we'er debating between a couple of these neighborhoods...Comment

There are so many communities like that popping up all over Indy. Houses start around 80k and can go up to whatever. They look like cookie cutouts and are built badly. I looked at a few before we bought our house. For the same price we would've lived in a 1000 sq ft house that was paper thin. We bought this house, builit in 1925, that has 3500 sq ft in a historical neighborhood. It would be hard to go smaller now. I'm hoping that we will make enough money to be able to build what we want where we want. I don't need a mansion, there are only 2 humans in this house.

I have a place in summerlin costs around from 250k-500k in my area. The more west you go normally the higher the price goes. Just about 1/2 a mile away are 1m + homes. Just stay west of Buffalo Drive and the neighborhoods stay nice. I would say around $1300+ a month starting out in that area.

I like the Lamplight neighborhoods because it's not the same adobe looking shit all over the rest of the valley...but that's also why we're not in a hurry to buy here again until we find that house that hits us just right....for those who know, my homebuying experiences here have been dreadful ;)Comment

There's the poop on Las Vegas: It consists of The Strip and the rest is one big suburb with housing tracts, strip malls, shopping centers, two-story buildings, parking lots, etc. It's just not a real city yet...probably never will be.SIG TOO BIG! I could care less about tall buildings. Only time I've ever been in one is to go to the top to eat or look out over the city. Unless it's a hotel of course. I'd rather look at the scenery than buildings.

Laura,
Don't know what your time frame is, if you are looking to move to Las Vegas.
I have a home that will be available on March 1
For lease or for sale. 2300+ sq feet It's an older home in an established area, mature trees, and low crime.
It's in a nice neighborhood. Has a pool and fireplace.
If you want to know more email [email protected]Comment

Well, I live in Vegas, lived here all my life. Fortunately, I have an old lot where people were given acre lots to have homes on, so my backyard is a nice size. It really depends how big of a house you want, theres some nice big houses on the edge of Vegas, like Black Mountain almost, which are beautiful and left alone. In Henderson and Summerlin theres also good quality housing, though most places are "slot houses".Comment
