                                              It's kind of a funny but fucked up celebration to begin with...basically, after the slaves were freed in the rest of the U.S., nobody in Texas decided to tell the slaves and Texas had slaves for another 2 years before the word got to the Texas slaves and they were freed on June 19th, 2 years after the rest of the slaves were freed.
