Dollarmansteve - in my opinion you are wholly misanthropic. If anyone has a political position here, your pro-Bush pro-republican stance has become abundantly clear.

Your postings are quite verbose, and pathetic, and often drift off-topic. It is almost as if you are arguing simply to argue. Your self-absorbed pseudo-intellectual ramblings prove nothing, except perhaps you can bore people to death through words.

All I have been trying to do is wake people up to a few realities, in hopes of progressing mankind a bit, and your arguments simply attempt to squash progress through incredible negativity. You are the embodiment of technological stagnation. Your lack of imagination is exactly what I have been complaining about all along... just zero vision.

More soon!

pro-bush and pro-republican? Dude, I'm Canadian and, quite frankly, find it very arrogant to think that I give a flying rats ass about US politics. Every American politician can shove it up there ass for all I care.

No one needs to be woken up to 'realities' - reality is there every day for people to see it, people create reality every day. The fact is that progressive social change takes place over long periods of time (more than 1 generation) and not through abrubt action. Although these 'abrupt' actions get lots of press and get printed alot in history books, the fact is that the changes that are related to those events had been in motion for a long time and are still in progress (eg the american civil right movement).

Imagination with no plan for execution is 'day-dreaming'. I fully support a progressive society but also have a firm grasp on reality and methods of implementation - that is, I am a staunch realist.

I'm sorry my posts 'bore' you - I forgot that the attention span of the average GFY'er is about as long as it takes to blow their load.

More than Lotus inspired. Lotus builds them for Tesla Motors.

I agree with you to a point, but everyone makes better decisions when they are given choices. Gas prices are up in the US right now, so which car company benefits the most? The one with the best gas mileage. This is why Toyota has recently beat out the pack...

Most people really DO care.

there is no rational way to argue that people are buying Hummers, Escalades, Navigators, Expeditions and trucks for no reason at all, because "they don't have a choice" or "don't have better choices" and the fact that sales for those vehicles declined when gas prices rose is an obvious indication that people have choices and can make those choices when OTHER forces act on them besides the romantic idea of doing the right thing for mother earth.

exactly, the market determines demand - we do not live in a supply side economy.

Well I'm not sure why theres not a glut of little efficient hybrids then if they knew what was being demanded right now :) Hasn't the handwriting been on the wall in dark enough scribbles for a while now?

I'm in the middle here, but I do think they intentionally miss the boat on trends that could lead to a decline in sales. Hell, I would! lol Sometimes a mandated efficiency is the only way to force them to make more efficient vehicles. My 96 POS car still gets better mileage than 99% of new cars, hybrid or not.
