TGP going softcore?

This is partly in response to this thread posted by pornJester. However, I want to take it one step further, and show why going more softcore will not only improve conversions, but also retain traffic and maybe even improve it.
Since nobody will actually take the first step to improve the conversions in this business if that means losing traffic and money, I believe showing the opposite is true is the only way to actually get people to take action.

Now, let's look at the reasons why TGP2 failed first, since it shows us clearly all the things that can go wrong when setting up a new system.
One of the main problems of TGP2 is that it lacks ways to gain traffic. While TGP sites already have large amounts of traffic flowing around, TGP2 lacks this benefit, and also lacks a strong base of high-traffic sites to trade with. Because it also draws less bookmarkers, it basically doesn't gain enough traffic to be a viable alternative to TGP.
Now, another problem TGP2 faces is that it also hurts productivity, since many surfers consider the galleries on TGP2 sites to be deceptive. This causes them to click less often, and besides that also causes them to bookmark less often.
The third problem TGP2 faces is that the whole TGP2 network actually loses traffic every time a TGP2 surfer discovers a TGP site. Because TGP2 sites only trade with other TGP2 sites, this means that traffic is most likely lost for good.
The only real benefit is that conversions are better, but that benefit is cancelled out by the lack of traffic.

However, TGPs that show less hardcore will not face any of these problems. The reason for that lies mainly in trading traffic, as I will now show. The type of change I am thinking about in the following is not the complete and immediate banning of all hardcore galleries, but slowly phasing into a combination of softcore galleries and galleries that show a maximum of 4 hardcore pics, among with a bunch of softcore ones.

A TGP showing less hardcore could still continue to trade with other normal TGP sites. That gives the benefit that there is still a connection to the enormous base of traffic TGPs provide. Ofcourse, the question is how to plug into this base, gain traffic, and not lose too much traffic to "better" (= giving away too much for free) sites.
The first effect of less hardcore will be a slight decrease in bookmarkers, since some of those will notice the amount of hardcore getting less and move elsewhere. Note however that this will only be a slight decrease, since the galleries being listed will still be of high quality, and will still resemble those being listed on "normal" TGPs enough to fool the surfer. After all, almost every TGP also lists galleries that are either softcore or provide very little softcore.
So far, we have lost some traffic. But, now we face one of the main benefits of softcore: it takes the surfer longer to get off. That means he has to see more galleries, and thus click more often. Productivity will rise because of this, which cancels out the decrease in bookmarkers and might even gain more traffic than is lost because of the decrease in bookmarkers.
Now, we basically have the same or more traffic, but we offer less free hardcore. The traffic problem of TGP2 has been successfully circumvented by not cutting of the sites from the main supply of traffic and the surfer has been led to click more often by making him take longer before cumming.

The third effect we face is the one we were looking for in the first place: better conversions. The promise of hardcore on a paysite will mean a lot more when the surfer doesn't find loads of that on the TGP already. These better conversions will be gotten by both the TGP owner and the gallery builder.

So, because traffic remains high while conversions get better, this means more money for everyone. And, ofcourse, everyone loves money (except maybe SleazyDream, who just wants to beat off to free hardcore).



But, there is also something else to consider: the legality of sites. Right now, TGP sites offer hardcore porn to minors without proper age verification. Apart from the question if this is ethically correct (do we really want to confront 8 year olds with the existence and gory details of bukkake?), there is also the matter of the law.
While the protection of minors against porn is not yet being enforced strongly, chances are that somewhere in the near future this will be the case.
All it takes is some public attention, and laws will be changed, enforced, and those of us living in the civilized world and running TGPs will face some serious legal problems. (the russians ofcourse will benefit from this greatly) Going softcore would most likely solve this problem for the most part.
