can anyone give me an estimate of how many gigs are delivered by the major players on a monthly basis and the price per gig their likely paying?

Define "Major Player" - Affiliate program? TGP submitters? Hosting companies?
"Major Players" are not billed in gigabyte usage, they will be billed per-mbit (well, per-gbit at that level). Anywhere from $40-10 per mbit for multi-gigabit commits, depending on a whole lot of factors.
