Total n3wb, how do i get started?

I've done well in other forms of internet marketing and would like to get started in the pr0n business. I have the design team, backend team, domains, money and time. What I don't have is any fucking (pun intended) clue as to how to get started in this business.

I've been told to make some blogs and free sites, be an affiliate for large programs, then possibly start my own pay site down the road when I learn things a bit.

I have no idea which programs I should affiliate for, how to go about finding them or any clue as to how to evaluate an offer.

Also have been told that I can buy traffic to my sites, trade it (no idea how that works or what that means really) and sell it (i think).

Please give me your wisdom and feel free to email me if you have any special snake oil you would like to offer me in my quest to be successful in this industry.

Flame away

Make a site for YOURSELF. Make a site that you would use over all other sites. Organize things how you like them, pick pictures / movies YOU like. Make it a site that you will be able to use everyday.

Oh one other thing, if you can think of any n00bie traps, pitfalls or scams to avoid, that would be much appreciated. Feel free to post your story, any/good bad experiences for me and other beginners who might learn from them.

You can email me at amberdosh at gmail dot com

Wow. I'm sure that will turn out to be some very good advice. Thank you!

Also that epass>paypal thing looks pretty awesome. Is that your service or you just pimping it? Is it reputable?

I use epass quite a bit in my other endeavors.

That's actually awesome advice... If you make "something" you love and it's genuine, then you'll attract like-minded folk and will thus be able to "sell" to them as you'd want to be sold to.

Agree with ztik! Make something unique and eye catching and give what the web surfers want. Only not too raunchy or else police will be after you.

some quick advice...

- read as much as you can. read everything adult-related even if you don't think you can immediately benefit from it. everything fits together and it will help you develop many different revenue streams. Good stuff to start out with are the tutorials over at TGP Factory (http://www.tgpfactory.com/tgp-tutorials-and-guides.html), Cozy Frog (http://www.cozyfrog.com/), and XBiz (http://www.xbiz.com).

- decide on one or two niches to focus on. they should be areas that personally interest you because you are going to be dealing with their content a lot. picking broad, saturated niches will make it difficult to see results unless you have a bunch of traffic, so it would be best to focus on very specific niches. for example, it will be difficult to succeed if you start a 'babes site' or a 'hardcore site.' you will do better if you focus on something specific like 'shemales fucking guys.' Just an example.

- start making one gallery every day and submitting it to tgps. it might be tough to stay focused and continue doing this every day, but if you do, you will learn tons about how to convert porn surfers into customers. you'll learn what works and what does not, and you will learn to sell the sites you are promoting. you'll also start sending paysites traffic and making some cash.

there is a lot more, but this will get you started.

best of luck.

When you find out, tell me.

I registered a .com and put a wordpress blog on it a few weeks back. I have a few pages of content from my sponsors free stuff. Signed up with some reputable sponsors, submitted to some directories and did some exchanges I found here on the forum. Also submitted my site to google, yahoo(have yet to be put on there. dunno why - maybe it just takes yahoo longer), msn, altavista and some others. I'm still looking for more to submit things to.

I'm getting a small amount of google traffic. About 15-20 clicks a day from that. Anywhere between 250-350 clicks from the exchanges and directories. I've gotten a lot of clicks to my sponsors but haven't converted anything yet.

I actually want to make a few more blogs. Even if I don't make any money, it's more experience in building traffic and the cost is relatively low.

Homepage visits in last week of June: 3,742
Homepage visits so far in July: 1,207

I got a lot more traffic in my first week than I am in my second. I assume it's from my ranks in the new submission parts of directories dropping. I dunno really..I still have a lot to learn but there's a summary from another n3wb.

Best tip you'll ever get (not really):

Don't get stuck with one thing. Try as much different things as you can. Sooner or later you'll find great traffic sources that will make you lots of money.

(I wish I would have thought of this when I was submitting galleries back in 2002. Heh..)

What do you call "a lot of clicks" to your sponsor?

You do know that you should get 1 sale for each 1,000 clicks sent to your sponsors, roughly, right?

Yeah, if I hadn't converted something yet by 1:000 I'd start to make sure there's no problems. I was speaking from terms of newb relativity with "a lot" - no more than 150 clicks to each sponsor. I'm sure that's about an hour of action for a lot of people, but I'm considering it a small accomplishment right now.
