Trend - you can get a trial at www.antivirus.com

Dont trust a software firewall. Get a Cisco Pix if you are serious, or a Linksys if you cheap and still want to be safe

ZoneAlarm, hands down and no disputes should be your personal firewall.

If you won't go hardware, which is certainly better. At the very least you could get a NAT.

AVG. Do a quick review and 80% of web says AVG. Norton Anti-virus is a virus of itself since it embedds into system so badly, that it's impossible to uninstall.

From hackers forum, I think they should know best.

When hit with a real shit list.

Kaspersky - caught and blocked the most.

Norton caused the most false alarms and failed to warn of injection attempts

AVG missed 10% of trojans and failed to report dangerous activity.

Winner Kaspersky for having the sharpest activity detection and pattern updates.

I use kaspersky Anti Virus. I use sunbelt Kerio firewall software. The only reason why I use this is that I can see which programs want to gain access to the internet...

I also have a linksys router with some firewall protction

Kaspersky for AV. Their firewall on the other hand isn't as simple as it used to be, and now it's a real pain in the ass to use.

I'm trying to figure out what the best software firewall is.

This site http://www.matousec.com/projects/win...ts-results.php ranks them based on leak tests.

Comodo and Jetico got the convincing wins.
