Earliest I was dabbling in this part of the interwebs was about 98...

My first memories in this biz were xpics, sexysites(or spaces) free hosting, boogie, PK, tommys, CE, and of course some of the earlier Oz crowd...dean/oz-truecash, etc...

And then about 4-5 years ago I pretty much quit hosting anything that would ever call for 2257 (call me a psychic but I didn't want to deal with it, I saw the writing on the wall, and never intended to become a full time document holder or producer)...since then I'm 100% non-nude dating/cams and these days about 98% mainstream money from consulting gigs & other shiz...

:pimp

Same here.

Tinkered with that in early 90's, but then took a break for 3 years. Came back in early '97. Started a hobby site, just for me. But the traffic came.

Then another. Rinse wash repeat again and again. Before too long was collecting extra money.

Here I am 10 years later.

:2 cents:

HairToStay 06-18-2007 05:22 PM

1st site went up in 1994 on a ~ domain. Took me a year to register domain with Internic, and back then it took them 4-6 weeks to set up DNS -- at a cost of $100 per year.

Let's not even talk about the $12.50 a gig of bandwidth

Things sure do change.

Forkbeard 06-18-2007 10:42 PM

Do eBay auction pages count? Because in the early days before they cracked down on adult, I was importing dirty postcards from Japan and selling them for twenty bucks apiece on eBay, is where I learned to write html pages.

Of course it was a hobby to pay for all the old bondage magazines I was *buying* on eBay.

I actually threw up my first affiliate page a bit later (1998?) but didn't understand about traffic, and so didn't get any. Gave up, didn't come back until 2002. Dumb dumb dumb, but there it it.

Mr. Mojo Risin 06-18-2007 11:03 PM

How about 1996 with Ken Lawson and Cashquest. We started with transsexuals.com and eventually ran the biz up to more than a 1000 joins a day, all niche stuff... FatGirls.com, FootFetish.com, Olderbabes.com. Our servers cost 40K each!!!

Then everyone and thier brother had a tranny and BBW site... Ahhh the good old days :)
