Its official: GFY is the slowest forum in the history of the internet!

For GFY it wasn't really hard to achieve this title to begin with, since any other board that's 10 times bigger as gfy is ~100 times faster. So GFY already devoured all it's competitors.
The only other requirement for this honorable title was that the extreme slowness would be consistent for at least one year. And they made it!

Congrats and let's try and keep it slow as a turd going uphill for another year!

id have to disagree. i visit a coral reef tank forum cas i have a tank myself, and that forum is by far slower than gfy. 9 out of 10 times search doesnt even work cause the server load is through the roof

I'd say don't be cheap and buy yourself a decent server. Because now it's like the forum is hosted on a cheap $10/month shared server or something. This will improve speed a lot!

Incorrect - Dean could have bitched all he liked, but he crossed the line and was very politically incorrect in discussing Playboy. He used at least one too many four letter words in suggesting what the Bunny might do in it's spare time (while waiting for the pages to load, I guess).

As for the board, it is big and unwieldy, and often seems to have issues connecting to the main database server, which means very uneven performance. It is fast sometimes, other times it goes off into la-la land. I somehow don't think that the software was actually designed to truly scale up to the levels that GFY is putting it to.

VBulletin is the best. The Digitalpoint board doesn't have this problem and they are almost twice the size of GFY.

GFY isn't as big of a bulletin board as everyone seems to think. Sure's there a
few people here and a lot of posts but there's MUCH bigger and busier boards
around that run a lot faster.
