The surfer may not be our friend but the PAYSITE MEMBER most definitely is, and I can only guess by your cavalier attitude towards them that you wouldn't lose any sleep if you fucked them over.
Also, something you might not be familiar with is that when you actually have a members area worth visiting, people do come back after they cancel and rejoin. I can understand why you have no experience with that though.

They coddle thier members, they make it easy to cancel if they want to, they don't bombard them with emails after they leave or try to install toolbars into their browsers, or try to sell them other shit after they've already paid to be a member of the site. They provide a unique, quality product and they know that people who leave will very often come back.
Of course some people are just out for a "quick buck" and want to fleece people for every cent they can before they ruin biz for the rest of us and move to the carribean with all of their ill gotten gains.

I'll say it again, if somebody joins your site for a trial and cancels, while there is a small chance they will come back again, the overwhelming odds are that the surfer is "just moving on".. they've prequalified themselves as buyers of adult content with a working credit card so take advantage of that knowledge and offer them something else.. your site might have SUCKED and thats why they are cancelling or maybe you didnt have what they wanted or maybe they couldnt get your videos to work, there are 5000 reasons people cancel, 99% of them give you a GOOD reason to try and provide them with other purchase opportunities where you can make money.
We joke around about "fucking the surfer" but it's really just our way of saying that we optimize our revenue... i never get tired of hearing myself say this:
"IF YOU WANT A FRIEND, BUY A DOG. IF YOU WANT TO MAKE MONEY, USE QUICKBUCK"

You practically called yourself one. You can "say" that you're joking but the overall tone of all of your posts concerning surfers and members says otherwise.
This is a really naive statement coming from someone who's been in the business as long as you. There are lots of sites that make bloody fortunes off of returning members. One because they have TONS of them, and two because those members are 100% profit.
Obviously when you don't offer a decent membership experience to your surfers and try to fleece them for every cent in their pockets, you don't have any experience with returning members, so I understand your naivete on the subject.
So obviously your position is that we should bleed every last cent possible using every shady method possible from every person who lays eyes on our sites?
