having been to several metal skool shows, i gotta go with them. they are so much more than a band, its comedy mixed with the music, they are bad ass. anthrax is just gonna blow out peoples ears all night. metal skool has a whole other level of entertainment value, not to mention they know how to work a crowd and get the girls all hot which is what we all want anyhow. :thumbsup :2 cents: |
D you made some good points! However I think the best solution would be metal sckool! I did vote for anthrax thou!
I never heard of them before this thread and I checked out thier youtube clips and they were awesome! I loved it! |
Anthrax - legendary metal band, but perhaps too "metal head-y" for everyone.
Ted Nugent - another legend, but not sure if the younger generation would be into him Eddie Money - no comment (seriously, i don't know much about his music) Chris Cornell - nice balance of rock and alternative Fishbone - Bugbee says they're great, but i don't know them well Slightly Stoopid - ? Ratt - they rock, but anti-glam webmasters might get on stage and kick their ass? Bo Diddley - too old-school? Smithereens - not my style Violent Femmes - same as above IMO the best balance from all of the above is Chris Cornell. Either way I'm sure the event will rock. |

Good take. |
Slightly Stoopid is great band with a great sound. plus, they'd fit in with our audience. They get my vote

I really didn't expect people to know from them. My thinking is this. Talk to Metal Skool, see if it's realistic at the number I'm prepared to pay. Then if that doesn't work, I'll pick up discussions with Anthrax and Slighty Stoopid. Personally, Slightly Stoopid would please the masses better. But for the "cool" factor to say we had Anthrax, that sounds cooler. But in the end, the party itself is more important then the hype. |
D$ I am just psyched you are doing a rock show! Any of the bands you are after are going to be great :thumbsup

Seriously nothing like having the Devil sing at a players ball http://www.bighairmetal.com/dio.JPG |
A Metal Skool/Dick D combo would make for a night no one will forget
|
Chris Cornell - but gotta echo the previous sentiments that he play audioslave and Soundgarden songs - think he would know for this type of venue his solo shit wouldn't fly :2 cents:

I agree. Perfect night of good music mixed with entertaining stage shows. The Ball is in Metal Skools court. (nice play on words) Dick D is for sure already, I'm stoked to see them live. |
I like Fishbone too

Yeah, but what I've learned about artists is... When you try to tell them what to play, they don't listen and they look down on that. I told George Clinton and P-Funk to wait to play Maggot Brain (it's super slow and lasts over 15 minutes). The played it too early anyway. Artists like their artist freedom to play what they want. If you tell them what to do they feel like wedding singers. And I respect that. I still try to coach them anyway, so they realize our crowd isn't there for them, they're there because it's an industry event and I brought a big name artist to enhance the moment. Then I cross my fingers. With Chris Cornell, he'll probably play like 2 to 4 older songs that rock, but he might put people to sleep with the others. I've seen our crowd walk out when the set turns too slow. |

KB learned how to play it from Mike Hampton from P-Funk back when we lived in Cleveland. Man was that fun, hearing Mike Hampton whale on it in his living room. |
Still think fishbone, they are pure fun!
|
We're close to locking in our artist.
Stay tuned. |

However I'm also a SS fan so wouldn't mind them either...I don't know if I'd call them up and coming when they've been putting out albums for 11 years though :winkwink: |

|
someone needs to step up so we can get kid rock
I'd empty my bank acct to sponsor it, but I'm afraid I'd fall pretty short :1orglaugh |
Chris Cornell ?? LOL your kidding me
i would be very surprised if i saw Chris Cornell at the Ball VERY surprised i doubt that |
The way I see this...
The Players Ball started off with Long Beach Dub Allstars, then Digital Underground, Ice-T, Doug E Fresh, Slick Rick and Too $hort. Then we got more sponsor support and pulled off Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, Xzibit, George Clinton and P-Funk, Ice Cube and others. So for our first Rock The Ball, the main thing is to establish that we're gonna keep doing a rock show, we ain't goin' no where. Once people catch on and see a finished product (our very first Rock The Ball), then we'll build up and grow into Kid Rock, Linkin Park and other big name rock acts. But hey, everyone should step up and start pitching in, that's why we started memberships with these new Players Cards. Everyone can contribute for only $1000 for a 3 year sponsorship and membership. Unfortunately, people don't understand it's more about supporting these events to pitch in then to wait and see which sponsor hooks them up with a membership for free. It's like being a stock holder for the Players Ball and Rock The Ball. If anyone wants to pitch in, here's the link to become a VIP member for YEARS and get a link on the site. Since no ones stepped up yet, you'll be the only link listed, thus it's a great deal for the money. BUY A MEMBERSHIP/SPONSORSHIP |
