I do. I like 'em but I think Anthrax would be better in this context. |
Very interesting to see Anthrax doing so well.
I'm just hoping that if we do them, half the crowd doesn't leave because it's too loud. If it's rock you want, it's rock you're gonna get. I promise you. The Femmes are a better crowd pleaser, but after they play their big hit or 2, will you all stay and watch the rest? At least when you see a hard act, it's fun to watch their stage presence. I'm going to have fun with the dress code for this. Come how ever the fuck you want. Rock and Roll attitude. I might have to bust out my old AC/DC t-shirt. |

Any of you metal lovers know from Armored Saint?
They're friends of mine. Some of them came to the Ball this past January. Just curious if anyone knows of them. |

YT i will take you to see them at key club with Airek we will get you out to LA BTW MOnk did you even read the whole thread??? Yes we have heard of fishbone are you even old enough to vote? :1orglaugh |
We did Fishbone back in 2001 in Vegas.
Awesome live show. The only reason I'm holding back is because we've done them already, not that any of you would remember that show. But if I see more interest in them, I'd seriously consider them. Right now, looks like Anthrax and Femmes are the popular choices. I'm pretty stoked to see Slightly Stoopid get votes. I love those guys and they have an awesome live show. It's just, no one will know their tunes, but they're awesome to vibe to. And one day when they're super big and famous, you'll remember D$ hipped ya. |

Hey man - I had a thought...Metal School would be awesome...that is the best of both worlds...all hit songs, funny as hell, and probably affordable...combine that with the comedy of Dick D and you have quite an evening. |

Would love to see them out in FL... never a bad show from that troop... |
VIOLENT FUCKING FEMMES ARE AWESOME !!!!!
I did personal security at a couple of their Brisbane concerts in the 80's and also saw them play on one of their re-run tours. I vote the Femmes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-) |

Slayer has to be quite a bit more than Anthrax, and they are on tour with Marilyn Manson. If D was able to Get SLAYER id even become a sponsor. My #1 all time Fav Band on the Planet is Slayer |

Guess all the bands in the original thread fell through :(
Femmes or Anthrax get my vote, with Slightly Stoopid a close thirs. I saw them about 6 years ago and the show was decent. pepper would be a better option though. :) |

Thank you! Hopefully I'll hear from them today. The question I have is, if Metal Skool is the same price as Anthrax, who would you do? The thing Metal Skool has over Anthrax is, it's better suited for our crowd. From what I hear, they put on an amazing show and play tunes everyone will know. Anthrax rocks, people might not know their tunes, but they're a legendary act. The Femmes I'm surprised about, seeing how many votes their getting. But I wonder if the majority of the crowd would really dig the whole show. Chris Cornell I've heard mixed reviews about lately. My agent said he saw him and he totally rocked, played some of his older stuff and lots of newer stuff. Even the mellow tunes were good because he has an amazing voice. However, if it's too mellow, not gonna work. Others I speak with say his show is nothing like Soundgarden or Audioslave. Anyone here ever been to a Chris Cornell concert? |

having been to several metal skool shows, i gotta go with them. they are so much more than a band, its comedy mixed with the music, they are bad ass. anthrax is just gonna blow out peoples ears all night. metal skool has a whole other level of entertainment value, not to mention they know how to work a crowd and get the girls all hot which is what we all want anyhow. :thumbsup :2 cents: |
D you made some good points! However I think the best solution would be metal sckool! I did vote for anthrax thou!
I never heard of them before this thread and I checked out thier youtube clips and they were awesome! I loved it! |
Anthrax - legendary metal band, but perhaps too "metal head-y" for everyone.
Ted Nugent - another legend, but not sure if the younger generation would be into him Eddie Money - no comment (seriously, i don't know much about his music) Chris Cornell - nice balance of rock and alternative Fishbone - Bugbee says they're great, but i don't know them well Slightly Stoopid - ? Ratt - they rock, but anti-glam webmasters might get on stage and kick their ass? Bo Diddley - too old-school? Smithereens - not my style Violent Femmes - same as above IMO the best balance from all of the above is Chris Cornell. Either way I'm sure the event will rock. |

Good take. |
Slightly Stoopid is great band with a great sound. plus, they'd fit in with our audience. They get my vote
|

I really didn't expect people to know from them. My thinking is this. Talk to Metal Skool, see if it's realistic at the number I'm prepared to pay. Then if that doesn't work, I'll pick up discussions with Anthrax and Slighty Stoopid. Personally, Slightly Stoopid would please the masses better. But for the "cool" factor to say we had Anthrax, that sounds cooler. But in the end, the party itself is more important then the hype. |
D$ I am just psyched you are doing a rock show! Any of the bands you are after are going to be great :thumbsup
|

Awesome. That's my goal, get the rockers excited. |

Seriously nothing like having the Devil sing at a players ball http://www.bighairmetal.com/dio.JPG |
A Metal Skool/Dick D combo would make for a night no one will forget
|
Chris Cornell - but gotta echo the previous sentiments that he play audioslave and Soundgarden songs - think he would know for this type of venue his solo shit wouldn't fly :2 cents:
|

I agree. Perfect night of good music mixed with entertaining stage shows. The Ball is in Metal Skools court. (nice play on words) Dick D is for sure already, I'm stoked to see them live. |
I like Fishbone too

Yeah, but what I've learned about artists is... When you try to tell them what to play, they don't listen and they look down on that. I told George Clinton and P-Funk to wait to play Maggot Brain (it's super slow and lasts over 15 minutes). The played it too early anyway. Artists like their artist freedom to play what they want. If you tell them what to do they feel like wedding singers. And I respect that. I still try to coach them anyway, so they realize our crowd isn't there for them, they're there because it's an industry event and I brought a big name artist to enhance the moment. Then I cross my fingers. With Chris Cornell, he'll probably play like 2 to 4 older songs that rock, but he might put people to sleep with the others. I've seen our crowd walk out when the set turns too slow. |
