If there is a time machine evented ever, we would alreday have known about it.

These two lines kill the timemachine forever.

Both were answered in the video. Thanks for watching.

So this time machine really doesn't let you travel into the future.

It's more of a "past" travel machine.

From the point it was turned on. So really, the most effective use without killing people over it, in the future, drop notes to us in the present (their past) on what mistakes not to make in our future.

Like, don't vote for Bush, oh shit, we're too late for that one.

Anyway, interesting find. I myself like tooling around with laser technology in the garage on my weekends.

Actually. The wosrt thing the future can do is 'warn us' of shit. Think about it. What if in some tiny way Bush being president somehow caused this guy to think in a direction that led him to build the machine. Changing one tiny thing based on the future may alter the future in a devastating way.

Didn't you see Back to the Future II?

The Duck 06-06-2007 10:46 AM

I dont see how that machine will ever work.

It's funny that you remember which Back to the Future it was!

Ever seen a movie called Primer?

mhende6600 06-06-2007 11:24 AM

good info

...One significant limitation of such a time machine is that it is only possible to go as far back in time as the initial creation of the machine;[15] in essence, it is more of a path through time than it is a device that itself moves through time, and it would not allow the technology itself to be moved backwards in time. This could provide an alternative explanation for Hawking's observation: a time machine will be built someday, but has not yet been built, so the tourists from the future cannot reach this far back in time.

woah! after reading the article, it's never impossible that someday we will be asking... "what era would you be visiting this summer?" or "chics in 1820 are hot, try 'em!" hahahaha that would be nice...:winkwink:

Of course. none of these "time travel to the past is only possible in the future" concepts are taking into account the possibility of using naturally occuring phenomena (such as black holes) as the catalyst for temporal travel.

Black Holes swallow light, And everything else. You cannot use a black hole. But you can use a worm hole.:upsidedow

Was that the one with the guy in the time machine where he'd have to hide out in a shipping container while he travelled thru time? Or something like that?

StickyGreen 06-06-2007 12:01 PM

lol @ the idiots saying that we would already know of time-travellers from the future if the time machines were real. Do you guys not pay attention or something? They explained that you cannot travel back in time past the moment of the time machine's creation, so if a time machine hasn't been officially created yet, then no one can time travel back to this point in time...

The guy here is simply using powerful light emissions to emulate what we suspect black holes (and maybe larger stars and yes - maybe even worm holes) do naturally.

I only used black holes as an example of a natural phenomenon that we could maybe someday harness the power of to this end.

And keep in mind that no one - not even Stephen Hawking - is sure what happens when you cross over the singularity of a black hole.

If we, eventually, are able to harness these natural forces in this regard - as they've been around for quite some time - the range of their use would perhaps allow us to travel back before now.

That was my only point, whelp.

:)

What would a black hole look like from any other angles? I've seen drawings of them from the front. Even the NASA photos of an actual black hole, but what do they look like from the side? or back side?

They're Spheres... the matter and energy falling into them and stabilized around them might give a spiral impression... but the black holes themselves are spherical in shape.

To better visualize it, keep in mind that common theory is that the center of the Milky Way is nothing but an extra-large singular or group of Supermassive Black Holes around which the rest of the Galaxy has stabilized around.

And the reason we will try to harness that power is so we can kill other humans... sad but true

Depends if we even know what a black hole is. The Elegant Universe has some nice thoughts on that.....

In theory...

bobby666 06-20-2007 01:44 AM

cool stuff, i will build such a machine tomorrow

Pornwolf 06-20-2007 02:01 AM

Lots of theories and conjecture on subjects like this. I guess scientists have to do something with other scientists on Friday night while everyone else is out getting some pussy.

anyway the reason for going is simply to conduct experiments with space warping....no one wants to try it near earth

can you explain more? this is pretty interesting too!
