lol @ the idiots saying that we would already know of time-travellers from the future if the time machines were real. Do you guys not pay attention or something? They explained that you cannot travel back in time past the moment of the time machine's creation, so if a time machine hasn't been officially created yet, then no one can time travel back to this point in time...

The guy here is simply using powerful light emissions to emulate what we suspect black holes (and maybe larger stars and yes - maybe even worm holes) do naturally.

I only used black holes as an example of a natural phenomenon that we could maybe someday harness the power of to this end.

And keep in mind that no one - not even Stephen Hawking - is sure what happens when you cross over the singularity of a black hole.

If we, eventually, are able to harness these natural forces in this regard - as they've been around for quite some time - the range of their use would perhaps allow us to travel back before now.

That was my only point, whelp.

:)

What would a black hole look like from any other angles? I've seen drawings of them from the front. Even the NASA photos of an actual black hole, but what do they look like from the side? or back side?

They're Spheres... the matter and energy falling into them and stabilized around them might give a spiral impression... but the black holes themselves are spherical in shape.

To better visualize it, keep in mind that common theory is that the center of the Milky Way is nothing but an extra-large singular or group of Supermassive Black Holes around which the rest of the Galaxy has stabilized around.

electorns can teleport and be in two places at once by themselves cant they?

And the reason we will try to harness that power is so we can kill other humans... sad but true

Neat.

Of course. none of these "time travel to the past is only possible in the future" concepts are taking into account the possibility of using naturally occuring phenomena (such as black holes) as the catalyst for temporal travel.

Depends if we even know what a black hole is. The Elegant Universe has some nice thoughts on that.....

...One significant limitation of such a time machine is that it is only possible to go as far back in time as the initial creation of the machine;[15] in essence, it is more of a path through time than it is a device that itself moves through time, and it would not allow the technology itself to be moved backwards in time. This could provide an alternative explanation for Hawking's observation: a time machine will be built someday, but has not yet been built, so the tourists from the future cannot reach this far back in time.

In theory...

bobby666 06-20-2007 01:44 AM

cool stuff, i will build such a machine tomorrow

Lots of theories and conjecture on subjects like this. I guess scientists have to do something with other scientists on Friday night while everyone else is out getting some pussy.

anyway the reason for going is simply to conduct experiments with space warping....no one wants to try it near earth

can you explain more? this is pretty interesting too!
