I got the same shit. 'Zedo' is the problem, at least from what I have come up with.

I'll follow up here soon on the solution. The main sites that have removal instructions are outdated at the moment..

ouch .. i had a friend with this recently , turns your comp into a zombie..

p.s. if you have your phone plugged into your computer. remove it .

might wanna just phone your isp and have it on record you are asking about it, they likely won't have any usefull advice but get it on record

"hey i recently got a computer virus that keeps on popping up winantivirus pro 2007, got any tips to remove it ",

because chances are your computer is now a mailer or other such device

AVG
spysweeper

mcaffee
and a few others..

if you had protection you wouldnt have gotten it to begin with right. so theres a hole somewhere..

try this

go tino your systems32 directory in the windows folder then "sort files by last modified" then look for any files created in the last week that have names like kghkgfhgf.dll

Smokey, that is brilliant advice. You are one of my favorite posters on this board, and I am not the only one that feels that way.

ps dont delete shit willy nilly either , best advice is copy the entire filename into google search for it , if you cant find it or it says its a virus , its prob virus

there are a few windows system files that do get mofied everytime you start up the machine..

you can usually also use this method to track down WHEN something infected you to narrow down what it was that did it ( like an app or something ) you can also go into your internet cache and match up the exact time with the exact time of a site or file in the internet cache

I did a restore point back to yesterday and it seemed to stop the constant pop ups and attempts to get me to run another installer. I am going to do some more research when I get up and run some scanners.

Thanks for the tips. Anything else would be greatly appreciated.

I spent a bunch of time fucking around with restore points that did not work the other day. My main problem now is that I cannot reboot into safemode. I have AntiVir, that caught the locked files and said it would run in safe mode on the next reboot, but because I cannot boot into safe mode, it can't kill those files.

Hey man. I had the same thing and this is how you get rid of it.

First download this file to your desktop. http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.exe <-- Safe to download

Nest, open up internet options in control panel. Delete all temporary internet files, cookies etc. Clean the sumbitch up.

Next reboot machine and at POST screen hit the F8 key and boot into safe mode. Run the program you downloaded above. When it asks if you want to clean the registry too, say yes.

Reboot computer, fixed. Let me know if it work out for you. It should.

UGH, what a pain. Well, I will work on this when I get up. If you get any updates with your situation post away.

Good luck.
