Danny B 06-04-2007 04:07 AM

In the old days:

Kung Fu.
Galaga
PacMan

later on:

Street fighter 2
Mortal Kombat (Finish him)
And all the stuff by SNK and Taito (http://neo-geo.com)

And I'm still a sucker for pinball machines

Cypherpunk 06-04-2007 04:08 AM

Super Sprint

Lee 06-04-2007 06:08 AM

To me the ultimate coin-op game was Donkey Kong. I also loved Galaxians which was better than Space Invaders. The there was Gorf and Pole Position. There was also another game which involved driving with a black background and the track was just vertical lines which were like small posts, may have been called Night Driver or something similar, now that was old school.

The Spyhunters, Paperboys and the like were newer and by then I was more into my Commodore 64.

jwoodz 06-04-2007 06:52 AM

i like the xmen 6player game damn i miss those!!

Joe BrainCash 06-04-2007 07:06 AM

I spent a lot on Punch-Out ( way before Nintendo had it) and also on Double Dragon.

Drake 06-04-2007 07:10 AM

Galaga
Ninja Warrior
Bad Dudes
Double Dragon

There are many others but I don't even remember the titles. Had lots of fun with those - so many quarters spent. Sometimes I wish I still liked video games but at some time during adolesence they just lost the magic for me.

Peaches 06-04-2007 07:33 AM

Centipede :)

I even bought one of the arcade sized machines. I ended up giving it away during a move, but I can still kick total ass playing it ;)

gornyhuy 06-04-2007 08:19 AM

i built an AWESOME mame cabinet like Mr. PHeers last summer. The cabinet was a mortal kombat converted into an Area51, but its all black and super sleek now with a huge control panel designed to play pretty much everything out there, including two player SmashTV - which we finished in one sitting on the first play. :)

Goood stuff.

But my favorites from growing up are:
1)Tempest
2)Dig Dug
3)Tron
4)Galaga
5)Ateroids
6)Spy Hunter
and to a lesser degree: Dragon's Lair and Space Ace

Then from teen years -
NARC
Gauntlet
Area 51
Road Blasters (why? I have no idea)
19XX

The newer games at $0.75 - $1.50 per play just don't stack up. I miss the old school game play, so I rarely go to arcades anymore. Just sit in my basement and drink and play with my fat bald buddies.

Sarah_Jayne 06-04-2007 09:08 AM

My Uncle owned Dig-Dug and Galaga machines - so I played those until I got sick of 'em.

Mr. Mojo Risin 06-04-2007 11:15 AM

evildick 06-04-2007 11:29 AM

A lot of these have become available on Xbox360 Live Arcade. Russian Attack (renamed Rush N Attack to be politically correct), TMNT, Double Dragon, etc, have all came out in the last couple months.

I'm still waiting for Gauntlet 2. Apparently that is out on PS3 now.

How much do the games in arcades cost now? I remember in the late 80's I started seeing some for 50 cents! Are they like a dollar per play now? lol

EBORG9 06-04-2007 12:39 PM

I was The MASTER! THE MASTER I SAY! 25 cents and over an hour of DESTRUCTION! :thumbsup *12 years old and a hustler was born*
I was taking lunch money and setting high scores all over Detroit!
