Anyway, I posted this quote before many a time and I'll post it again:

"It is an insult to God to believe in God. For on the one hand it is to suppose that he has perpetrated acts of incalculable cruelty. On the other hand, it is to suppose that he has perversely given his human creatures an instrument -- their intellect -- which must inevitably lead them, if they are dispassionate and honest, to deny his existence. It is tempting to conclude that if he exists, it is the atheists and agnostics that he loves best, among those with any pretensions to education. For they are the ones who have taken him most seriously. "

-- Galen Strawson

That is all fine and dandy if you are fighting against the traditional ideas of God. But thats about it.

It assumes that God is a personal God. Which is not necessarily so. A Buddhist would laugh in your face.

Is there a God? Was there a first cause? Obviously there was... I am sitting here typing. There our things our puny brains will never be able to understand let alone grasp. People who cant figure out how to get listed on the Hun should not be telling others whether or not God exists or what the meaning of life is.

Interesting.

The "first cause" you mention in your message...
What is your opinion on it? Was it merely the destruction of a solar system or planets which parts of created Earth with just the right ingredients to allow human life?

You are certainly correct that the human brain is incapable of processing all the data that is required to understand and see the big picture. Maybe we will never know. The Universe is a vast area and keeps expanding, with our current technological level of spaceflight we will not be able to find out much. Until we can travel at the speed of light we will be stuck with the same questions.

First cause. Seriously, I have laid in bed and lost hours of sleep over this one. So frustrating.

I can leave all of the evolution of the solar system, earth, and life on earth to science... thats their realm. Its that first cause of it all that gets to me. Something caused it. I cant assume that it just always existed. The simple laws of cause and effect force me to believe in a creation, an impetus. Things dont just simply "exist" with no cause. And then you get all mixed up with the concepts of what time even is. The puny little mind cannot grasp eternity.

There was a cause. There has to be... right? Things just dont simply exist with no cause. the cause, it drives me insane.

I bet.

MC5 rule... thats a side of music only Detroit could produce, much like the aggro dopesick music of EYEHATEGOD is to New Orleans.

I listen to MC5 almost daily... "American Ruse." They are a big influence on my current fav of music flow from Sweden...

Balzac is really good, but just a tad poppy sounding...a friend of mine ordered a video of them from japan...they all wear leather skeleton suits and go apeshit on stage....

Is it in the Misfits style musically? Misfits at times had a poppy feel to them with the trademark morbid lyrics. Angelfuck sticks out in my mind...

Will do.

It has occured to me that perhaps some people reading this thread may not be familiar with the Misfits or the croonings of Mr. Glenn.

Here you go slapdicks... 3 of my favorite Misfits songs. All Misfits is good, but this will do.

Angelfuck

And my favorite Misfits song... Halloween.
Halloween
