    Hardwood floors question

Whats the best way to keep these things clean? I picked up one of them swifer sweepers and the mop thing but they leave track marks along the floor that I have to then use a dry towel to get up. So basically I am having to go over the flooring 3 times to get it clean.

How do you keep yours clean?

I vacuum the big stuff up, followed by a dry Swiffer, then a wet Swiffer. Haven't noticed any track marks, but my rooms are small and mostly covered in junk. And dogs.

I have about 2000 square feet of hardwood in the house there. The best combination I have found right now is swiffer and a vacuum, then VIM floor cleaner and a cotton towel to dry it back off. That leaves no streaks and makes a nice job of it.

You can also use any number of hardwood floor cleaner / polising products every so often, that seems to help add a protective layer to them.

we are going through the same thing and about to buy one of those $250-$350 vaccum deals for wood floors.

We can't keep ours clean at all. We still have dirt all around our house because landscapers like to take their damn time on getting here, and our lab has to go in/out throughout the day so he bring alot of dirt/dust in. No matter what we try the only thing working right now is towels with plain water. One person cleans, and another comes right behind them and dries.

make sure whatever you use is for hardwood floors, if it contains any soap in it, it fucks up the polyurethane and leaves streaks. i have a cleaning lady, but what she uses is one of those mops where you attach rags and does a dry mop on the floors to pick everything up. then i have a hoover floormate to clean the floors... which you dont use every time... only when its actually dirty. it works like a shampoo machine where it puts clean water down and sucks the dirty water into a different container, it works awesome. heres a link for it:

I use the Swiffer SweeperVac ... LOVE it! And a wet Swiffer when "mopping". I haven't had any trouble with streaks.

Should I try the wet swiffer 1st and then follow with the dry?

A couple of weeks ago my wife cleaned our floors with PLEDGE. She figured it was to polish wood, so it'll clean the wood floors, right? Our house is like a fucking skating rink now.

take two cats and rub them together till they build up some static electricity, then start tossing them sliding accross the floor, they pick up a surprising amount of dust
Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
                      think about that

do dry first unless you vacuum first, you will get the bulk of the stuff up like crumbs, hair (if you have pets), etc.

I can verify this as being a very successful method
