Haha what a joke, dont believe everything the mainstream media tells you. The station he closed was backed and run by the american propaganda machine, thats why he closed it.
Chavez changed many laws when he took power allowing freedom of press and speech. I recommend the documentary 'the revolution will not be televized' on this issue. Chavez is one of very few who dare to stand up to the american war machine, and I respect him for it. |

Hey Tzolkin I live here. I saw the RCTV programming until he closed it down. There was no "american propaganda machine" behind it. Do you know the venezuelan government paid the makers of that documentary? Do you know that the documentary that replies to that one has barely any backing? I was there during april 2002. I saw the National Guard shoot at people and not rubber bullets. I saw a woman that was protesting next to me get part of her ear shot off by the Chavez supporters. Do you also respect Chavez for restricting freedom of speech in Venezuela? Do you respect the fact that he has no respect for the people that dont agree with him? Itīs sooo easy to support a man that rules in a country miles away from where you comfortably live... |

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a reply. :thumbsup |
Venezuela used to have such a strong economy that they were one of the few countries on the visa waiver program for the U.S....My how times have changed

In the last roughly six months, Chavez has been contracting with a broader "customer base" for future oil sales and also dumping plenty funds into other industries which also export other product eg aluminum, mining etc. Sure.. it depends if his "investments" end up being profitable and effective overall, but even without them, Venezuela is fairly strong for a while ahead and owes very little in foreign debt. |

Think the current poverty level is around 30-35% at the moment - which is a reduction on past years when it was almost touching 50% ish. Agree even 30 something percent is too high, but even industrialized countries have poverty levels of 12-15%. |
Some amateur videos (not the kind we are used to around here)
I was in the same place they show in the first video a few hours before.Good thing I left before things got worse. Some Chavez supporters (in red hats) in a government building (those are real weapons): https://youtube.com/v/bkUd3BADM4s The Metropolitan Police and some protesters (using rubber bullets): https://youtube.com/v/yp5LLcMf2vg These videos can only be transmitted on TV after 11pm because a law Chavez enacted after the april 2002 events. |

Yea... better out of the firing line man:thumbsup It looks like a quieter night of riots in Northern Ireland - the Molitoff Cocktails have not started yet. Hope tomorrow is more peaceful and maybe Hugo might get the hint :pimp |

Things around here got pretty wild and suddenly it all went quiet for some reason. My guess is most people are just tiring out the National Guards and the MP. I saw some guys yesterday throwing some molotov cocktails at an MP barricade, and then the tear gas started and I couldnt see shit :1orglaugh I had to run in to a building were some lady opened the door so a bunch of us could escape. I dont think he is gonna get the hint.He is now threatening the only TV station reporting the events. He doesn't want information to get out. |

Jesus Christ, the man worships Fidel Castro after all, but he has more wealth and economic power at his will, which makes him far more dangerous. And he is using it. Add to the puzzle that he has very good relations with China, Iran, Russia and they are controlling together a enormous quantity of natural resources and growing energy markets. This man is dangerous, I said it before. Don't underestimate him. I hate to repeat myself, but if I were you, I would pack and run in a heartbeat, while I still can. |

This crap is also not good for deals he has done with other countries which would have benefitted Venezuela. There are "frowns" around Centro America over this and a silence in dealings with Chavez's "friends" in the region - tho no idea what the reaction is in Peru, Bolvia etc. Now.. on the Molotov recipe... you got plenty coke bottles, gas, chorline tablets and a gas mask? :winkwink: :thumbsup Seriously, cover your ass man - even unintended accidents can happen when adrenaline flows on both sides. |

The sad thing is the far left is pulling the same shit on the us right now and people are to fucking dumb to realize it. SOCIALIZED medicine is just one step towards this kind of shit. SOCIAL Security is failing, and will very soon cost us tax payers the equivalent of one iraq war per month (if they tried to keep it alive with outside funding, but they wont, it wont be around for long). I dont fancy myself a conservative, but I am very very very adament about not letting our society become dependant on the government, especialy when our government has proven to be unreliable time and time again.
