RRRED - parents read this.

RRRED ,

I doubt your on gfy but in the rare chance you are, i want you to know something very important.

I didnt know your son , but he is already affecting lives...

When i heard the tragic news yesterday my heart shrank a bit , and i went and gave my kids big hugs and kisses.

After thinking about it i realised , my kids wouldnt have gotten those extra kisses and hugs without this tragedy. so in a way , even in death your son is giving the gift of love to people he didnt even know, perhaps even affecting lives of people he didnt know.

For all you parents out there , do something extra special with your kids , give them some extra hugs and kisses and help rred's son's tragedy turn into some universal love.

we all love you tons rred , if you ever wanna talk , you can talk to me anytime.

Yea I gots to say. When i read that yesterday I sank too. My eyes welled and I took a moment of silence.

Why, I never met her son. Shit I barely met RRRed... but I like her... shes a good/smart woman.

I dunno why really, but it hit a chord for sure. Brings back some memories of a late friend too, maybe thats why.

A traggic loss to be suffered by anyone...let alone a mother.

My heart goes out to you RRRed as do im sure a lot of people's here.

You wont be around for awhile RRRed and we all understand ... Take youre time girl and come back when youre ready

Everyday I make sure to hug and kiss my kids, and tell them I love them. Be it losing them, or them losing you, you just never know. Everyday can be your last with them.

It's not often I cry... But this broke my heart... I don't have kids of my own, but I look after my brothers sons a lot... I know the next time I see them I will be giving them a huge hug... I can't even begin to imagine what RRRED must be going through... I just hope her friends are taking care of her.

Too bad it takes this to get parents to take time out to not only hug their children, but to tell them that they love them.

Personally, from the day I brought mine home from the hospital, until the day they moved out I told them that I love them. To this day, not a telephone call ends without my telling them that, and I never part company without giving them a hug and telling them I love them. It is the one piece of advice I give every new parent. I know I have been blessed with extraordinary children, and I can't help but think that the reassurance that they were indeed loved contributed to this.

Just the other night I was visiting with my son while he was with two of his firefighter co-workers and when I left we both hugged and said, "I love you."

He will call while driving his fire truck around, with his co-workers within earshot, and there is no embarrassment on his part when he signs off by telling his dad that he loves him.

They are never too young or too old to hear it. And I can assure you, as a father, there is nothing better than hearing your adult children respond in kind.

Good post Smokey and I agree with you. As a new parent myself, I simply cannot fathom what that must be like.

I'd also like to add that even the most simple, meaningless and random acts of caring, generosity and appreciation can have the greatest heartfelt impact on someone's life, family and loved ones. Take time to look outside yourself and appreciate not just your immediate family and loved ones, but your friends, co-workers and even strangers. You would be surprised how much your actions can impact someone's life without even you knowing it..

you took the words outta my thoughts. I am not a parent but I havea 10 y/o niece and I love her as if she were my own. She broke her wrist the other day and it broke my heart to hear her cry. I couldn't imagine losing her or anyone close to me. As of late, I lost a friend just a few weeks ago and this loss of RRED's brought back all the sadness.

We take our lives for granted and should always remember to say "I love you" to those we care about. A little kindness and thoughtfulness goes a long way.
