always been curious..why ICQ on here and not MSN?
is it because ICQ connection is more secure and convos cant be easily tracked? or is it because people dont want to mix it with their social everyday msn life?

IMHO it's cause ICQ came out first, thus there's some sort of *monopoly* when it comes to that. I use Gaim and can chat with most popular IMs out there...

I always have MSN open for general talk with friends, usually not biz related.
ICQ for the rest... |

It's because people in adult like to brag about their six-digit ICQ number; kind of like a post-count thing.

One reason is ICQ numbers aren't the biggest target of spam. If a bot sees an @ it grabs it and sends a ton of e-mails a day. But ICQ is just a number. I feel a lot better putting icq in my sig than an e-mail addy (which MSN needs).

Actually yahoo was more popular for a while but then they tried to charge in 2001 and icq got there base as well. |

It's not made by Microcrap, and it doesn't require you to upgrade it in order to sign on everytime they put out a new release.

I think its because ICQ was one of the first that allowed delayed messenging... if the other party was offline, you could still send a message and the server would hold it until the other side logged on. Plus, it was the first IM program on the market. If they had gotten their shit together and not bloated their website so badly, they might still be the powerhouse they once were...

Back in the day we used to use a program called talk.exe to chat with each other - we used to have to email each other ip addresses and then manually connect.
I believe ICQ came before MSN, or at least before MSN was popular. You guys all complain about ICQ. I use it daily and have no problems. In fact, it works perfectly for me.

MSN is like a toy. ICQ is for business.
I don't chat and shoot the shit with people so I only use ICQ. ...unless Beth wants to shoot the shit. Then I will do it on ICQ.

When I got on the net, everyone used ICQ so I did too. I still use AIM though, but just between a few close friends. I have an MSN nick but rarely ever use it.
