    Flexible Sony TV Screen

In an attempt to reduce and enhance the form factor and make more energy-efficient screens, Sony has debuted the first ever flexible LED TV screen.

The new screens are made of plastic, which allows OLED screens to bend. The prototype Sony showed off was just 2.5-inches, but it claims larger versions should be produced soon.

    pretty cool stuff

You think your flat pannel is flat now? A TV screen you can literally put anywhere? How much lighter would this make notebooks? I'm sure the power consumption is far less too.

Theres a crapload of applications if you think about it - screens could be contoured to surfaces, computers that could fit in a wallet or be rolled up into a pen

think about how cool it would be if you could wrap this stuff around a room or something - surround TV

Also think about stealth technology - this stuff could be wrapped around a vehicle, and with the right camera technology, blend into its environment like a chameleon

Well when they first came out with the TV screen on plastic technology (yet to be released) I figured it would be used in the military.

Imagine if those screens were all over the side of a tank, truck or even a battle ship. They could have cameras that film what ever is on one side of the object and then project it on the other site.

So from a distance it would give the transparent look from the movie "Predator". I know it sounds kinda far fetched but the US military is actually working on that kinda stuff.

I figure that's where this technology will end up in the future. Something like this could be used to camouflage not only tanks and other vehicles but also buildings from satellites and so on.

The japanese already has that. They do it on clothes. It's crude, looking but still kinda neat.

Yea saw that before but thought it was a fake. That's something else the US military is working on optical clothing for the troops.

if they could make it thin enough, they could have digital newspapers and magazines that could update themselves daily/weekly/whatever.

it would save tons of paper :]
