What are all you guys doing to stay 2257 compliant?

AdultSpace.com is a free adult social netoworking site and at the rate we are growing, Im pretty sure we are going to get hit with some 2257 problems.
We are being told that the most sufficient way to stay compliant is to request 2 forms of ID from each of our members...either by fax or scanned email. That doesnt seem very realistic to me, but if we have to do it...then we will give it a try.

I was just wondering what all you GFYers were doing to and if you guys had any ideas about what we could do?

Why would you need ID's from members. You would never get me sending you my personal information.

I would highly suggest you speak with an attorney.

This is the best advice you're probably going to get here.

If you're hosting nude pictures of people that you don't have records for, you may need to revisit your business model.

But before you do anything, talk to a lawyer... do a forum search, and there's many threads that discuss various firms and resource sites. Pick one that's right for you - you'll hopefully be with him/her for a long time.

I deal in code, not pictures.

So far...

if( $she_state = 'horny' && $he_state = 'horny' && !isset($std) ){
DoubleAnal();
}

is still compliant.

Don't do anything to comply with USC 2257 man - it's a US domestic law with no cred outside US territory.

Just wondering where 2257 applies to a social networking site?? (Tho might have missed an element which may be more "adult").

If you can see an angle where the law can attack you on this - best to have a lawyer just scan over that possibility.

I have heard lawyers say the exact opposite.

I just read an old article by ChadKnowsLaw.com that says the exact opposite.

Interesting when you consider that the law only requires one ID.

What am I doing to stay compliant? Well, I listen to my attorneys and I follow the rules.

Webby tells you: "Don't do anything to comply with USC 2257 man..." Then you follow up and tell him it's good advice?

Your location says Los Angeles...Is that still located in the US or have they moved it?

ensuring I keep every little detail that will cover my ass. icq logs, receipts and times of purchase as well as WHO they were purchased from, as well as the actual documents themselves.

Opposite to what DH?? Social networking sites or your usual trash about how foreign webmasters are obliged to conform to US domestic laws?

Fucked quote Aaron... What was intended to convey was the I don't comply with USC 2257 because it does not apply outside US jurisdiction.

But did say "If you can see an angle where the law can attack you on this - best to have a lawyer just scan over that possibility." considering jgabra62 does appear to fall under that law.

jgabra62 got the point and think this was what he was responding to.

A lawyer is obviously going to tell you to have ID's for any sexually explicit content that appears below the address bar. That's the safe bet, and they are paid to keep you out of trouble.

I personally wouldn't run one of these sites though. 2257 records keeping aside, nothing is stopping a 14yo from uploading nudes and bringing troubles your way.
