a legal blog question
starting a mainstream blog and if I link to a article like make the title of the article a link to the actual article. Is that a copyright problem, I figured no because the whole drudge report is just that basically. Your thoughts? Experiences? if I wanted to turn to a lawyer to answer that question, would it have to be a different one then my adult one?

If you link, or quote any source at all you should give "props" by way of naming the source and a link back. It not just good manners, but the author may find enough offense to contact your host.
I do it everyday, mostly from submissions, but I always quote the source and give a link back. Also, some people take pride in being quoted and will speak of it on their blog and link back to you. (extra bonus). Now, be careful with news sources, for one, I wanted to use an article from the Washington Post about a DJ...they have a fee to use their articles in print, blogs, or web pages, and it's astronomical, (Like $175). Just straight out copying and pasting is plagiarism (tough spell), and the source will be as pisses at you as if someone stole your content, (Photos, videos, etc) for their pay site. |
