I want affiliates, but in all honesty if I leave my promotion up to them, it's just a crapshoot. I am going to pay for my promotion. We are about 2-3 months away from going all out and at some point I expect that affiliates will be coming to me (sounds presumptuous, but that's what I expect). A good site will attract more customers, and affiliates, but not if I don't get it out there first.
If I don't have the confidence to advertise my own product, why should affiliates? Like they always say, it takes money to make money. So now that we have the equipment to produce, the years of talent, a decent backlog of content, it's time for advertising.

I was wondering what was up with that... I have a code on there that tracks hits too (statcounter.com) and of course the WordPress blog gets spammed to all hell but I guess that's just for the ad it thinks it's a virus.

By the way... found out it's not the page ad. I had someone who got the error check www.sterlingcash.com too which has the same ad and it didn't come up. So it's either the stat counter or something that got stuck on the blog by a spammer somehow.

Submit it to all the review sites. Go on the boards and tell people about the latest girl you shot. Affiliates will simply sign up and try it because it's new.

Sit back and wait for the money to roll in.

Funny you should mention that, because I was reserving judgement on the first article, until he gets to the one in which he actually recommends not only where to place advertising, but also what form it should take.
Lord Cadbury (Cadbury's was originally a big chocolate manufacturer in the UK, these days into much more) used to be quoted in the ad world as having said "I don't advertise to sell chocolate. I advertise to keep selling chocolate". That apparently simple statement has many implications.
Advertising of the "our product is good, so buy it" kind, is a hugely inefficient way to generate sales. On the other hand, once your product is known, simply placing its name on an otherwise empty space can be enough. Incentive programs need as much care: even experienced clients like the big fast-food chains have made some enormously expensives mistakes.
The online adult industry is still used to being able to make money too easily, so we see results even although we hire cheap designers and don't worry about the finer points of advertising and promotion. But the amount of money we have left on the table in consequence, doesn't bear thinking about.Comment
