I can't suggest where to buy one online because I didn't buy mine online, but I have a Maxtor 500gig usb external, had it for a year and never had any trouble with it

get one of those usb to sata kits, and then just buy a normal internal hardrive, not only will it probably be cheaper, but you will be able to convert ANY drive to an external drive

I got an external Maxtor (500 GB 7200 RPM) at Best Buy during the show in FL for like $150.

So far it works great, but it is big and heavy. A little too noisy, but I don't mind. Data transfer from 13 MB/s up to 25 MB/s.
