Hey, I pretty much have the same latop except I have XP and my video card is a 512 Geforce GO 7900 GTX and I love it.

The only complaint I have about it is the fact that when I have it on my lap and start playing games, the video card really puts out a lot of heat, but I'm sure it's the same with any laptop with a decent video card.

I think you'll be happy with it, I like the light control, how you can change the colors, that's a nice touch.

If anyone else is looking for a M1710, you should check out this seller at Ebay, it's where I got mine from, at the time I bought my system, back in September, with taxes, I saved $1,200 off of what it would've costed me buying one from Dell.

Check out this current auction from the same guy -

http://cgi.ebay.com/Dell-XPS-M1710-T...QQcmdZViewItem

Pay close attention to the specs and configure that over at Dell's website, I just did and the total of that was $4,931 (that's without tax or shipping) !! He's selling it for $3,695 with $35 shipping !!

He also sells a couple of lower M1710s without the Blu-Ray, which are great deals. His feedback is perfect 100% without a single negative and 1853 points.

If you're gonna buy a Dell, definately consider this guy and save a LOT of money.

Here it is without the Blu-Ray $2,995 !!

Looks like a good offer, 100% feedback, you cant argue with that, what about the Dell warranty?

Nice machine. I need to get a new laptop soon. You should get yourself an external HDD now to back up all your files to. You can never be too safe.

Yeah, that's for sure, he was a great seller for me, he got it out ultra fast and it was brand spankin new and unopened like he said.

As far as the warranty goes, it's supposed to be there, but I haven't had any need to use it yet, so I have no experience about it. I'm sure the warranty is tagged to the system, so if I ever did need to call about it, I'd be set.

I got a 320 gb external drive from Western Digital, it should do the trick.
