Oh boy, they sure seem to catch on to customer service at GOOG. Look what they did when ice.com threatened to stop buying traffic from them:

i was paying 5 cents per click and all of a sudden they wanted $1, $5 and $10 per click.

doesn't something seem a little shady that if you do a google search for simply the word "ice", that ice.com comes up right on the first page second listing?

Maybe the seo experts could comment, but looking at their site, which has nothing to do with actual ice and is just a jewelery company... it doesn't look to me that it would be the highly linked and relevant type of site that should get such a high ranking on such a common word that actually has so much more relevance in anything but the ice.com page.

Does google discriminate and give extra se ranking help to companies that spend $$ with them, or am I completely wrong in my non-learned analysis here?

maybe it's because they own the name ICE?
