ages ago before i got my own hosting, i emailed them asking about Adult content and they were cool about it.

I full explained to the sales rep i wanted it for a network of porn sites running scripts etc, and he said as long as the server side processing wasn't too heavy it was fine.

I still steered away, cause those too good to be true deals always bite you in the ass.

And then I learnt my lesson when a fellow GFY member stole $100 off of me for hosting, and then closed my account a few days after he'd got my money.......

luckily ive now got some server space that is by NO means the cheapest, but the service is great and the server is about 30 miles away from my house

Also agree it's not a great idea to host critical websites with em - they are much the same as the other cheapo hosts like dreamhost. What ya expect for $7? Blood? :-)

I have one account with them for small mainstream stuff. Uptime is not the greatest in the world but the worst in my opinion is the clustered hosting, which makes it impossible to have any access to server logs and error logs. So I have to rely on third party software to read stats.

Other than that they have a load of features and plenty of disc space.

I have a bunch of small time stuff hosted with, never any problems, when I asked about if it was legal to host adult stuff with, theysaid they didnt mind as long as what I did was legal...

Hardcore is NOT illegal in Germany But it's illegal to prsent hardcore to minors without any protection like an AVS. Of course a site, which is hosted in Germany, could be taken down by law and the hoster can't do anything.

IMO it depens on where you are based, not where your server is based. You don't need 2257 documents if you are in Europe, even if your hosting company is in the US

Might be true... I guess that if you aren't targeting the german market specifically and aren't hosted in Germany, you're well off concerning any governmental prosecution...

You are right, but if your site is listed on the German censor index (yes, it gives something like this in Germany) and they get aware of that your site is hosted in Germany, they are allowed to take it down. Of course, it's a theoretic thing, would happen as often as a webmaster would be jailed when he comes from abroad to visit the US and does not apply any 2257 documentation
