The rythme is the base and the base is the treble

Ragging Rhino 05-10-2007 12:02 AM

AC/DC would put on a mind blowing concert.

SleazyDream 05-10-2007 12:02 AM

why not list a few options in the budget range?

tical 05-10-2007 12:13 AM

velvet revolver would kick ass for sure

the bloodhound gang would fit in too & probably wouldn't cost too much... would be great for an opening act

tical 05-10-2007 12:14 AM

fly in chasey lain to be onstage for that one too

Martina Warren 05-10-2007 12:15 AM

Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, or System of a Down

Martina Warren 05-10-2007 12:16 AM

Oh and Staind

V_RocKs 05-10-2007 03:03 AM

A rock band with a mixing table would be nice...

But I really like the idea of a yacht rock band because you can easily theme the event around it.

ServerGenius 05-10-2007 03:19 AM

HipHop: Deliquent Habits
Rock: Good Old Van Halen, or even just for the kicks Ozzy :-p
A bit of Both: Jay-Z & Linkin Park

As a token of appreciating for my suggestions....get me Shakira for my hotel room

i have a really hard time picturing AC/DC playing anyinthing less then a sold out 10,000+ seat arena. but it'd be cool as hell :winkwink:

Here's the rock list I'm turning in, almost all of the options posted.

System of a Down
Social Distortion
Staind
Pennywise
NOFX
Rob Zombie
Korn
Rancid
Daughty (American idol)
INXS
LINKIN PARK
White Stripes
Death Cab
Tool
Motley Crue
Nickleback
GWAR
Guns N Roses
Godsmack
Foo Fighters
Velvet Revolver
Smashing Pumpkins
Lenny Kravitz

I added a couple more.

Motley Crue would cost an arm and a leg, could probably do a Vince Neil show for a lot less though :2 cents:

Brad 05-10-2007 09:15 AM

I just thought of a few more for the list:

Alexisonfire
Clutch
Incubus
Mad Caddies
Goldfinger
Mars Volta
Queens of the Stone Age

This list could go on for a while. Please do not get Nickleback or Velvet Revolver.

Brad 05-10-2007 09:22 AM

Actually, screw it...just get the Roots. They put on a great show and they can play basically everything. I saw them last month and they were doing Led Zep and Bob Dylan covers. Plus they are entertaining as hell.

lesbodojo 05-10-2007 09:53 AM

Are you just looking at typical rock bands? If you're open to indie/electro bands... Black Moustache or CSS or Goldfrapp would be fun. I could email you a list of bands I have contacts for.

The answer is, I'm interested in everything.

One of the pleasures of creating events for webmasters is hipping them to artists they didn't know from or barely knew from. I've had lot's of people tell me they turned into fans of some of these Players Ball artists and bought many of their CD's after the show.

So hip me to to it!

Were you at the one in SD for Cybernet about 2 years ago?

We had members from that group perform with Half Pint, "Dubcat".

And we were also one of the first people to book LBDAS for our very first Players Ball in 1999, Vegas.

The wrecked my hotel rooms afterwards.

D-Money 05-10-2007 10:44 AM

Oh hey, since I have all of these eye balls looking.

We're about to finish up our summer Players Ball sponsorship packages.

Email me if you're interested in the #1 webmaster event of all time.

All time.

#1.

Believe it.

System of a down would be cool, but not possible.. The lead singer will not play another concert no matter how much you pay them... How about Quiet Riot or Scorpions?

System of a Down, only if they don't play that one, "Everybodys going to a party have a real good time...."

D-Money 05-10-2007 11:19 AM

Keep the input coming.

I keep sending my booking agent emails every 2 minutes with more and more names for him to get prices on and contact.

Hey, on another note.

I've decided to build a new brand for a new era of Rock and Roll parties for webmasters.

The Players Ball will continue on it's normal course of hip hop style artists.

But now, a new party name will be born with rock as the theme.

I'm going to post another thread with the new options, get a vote going.

So here's your chance to help D$ build another 10 years of events catering to the rock crowd.

I'll post the link to the new name options in a second. And if you can think of a better name, go for it.

BobG 05-10-2007 11:25 AM

Chilli Peppers. But make sure you don't give Anthony Kiedis any free passwords, he'll blow up your servers.

carol.prime 05-10-2007 11:25 AM

linkin park..would be cool!!:thumbsup :thumbsup

D-Money 05-10-2007 11:33 AM

Here's the link to the naming of the new rock event, the next D$ Joint.

http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showthread.php?t=732045

Help me decide this one so I can build it, then you all can come.

D-Money 05-10-2007 02:23 PM

OK, here's how I see it.

Keep in mind, I pick artists based on how much I think I can from webmasters to sponsor the event. For the summer shows, it seems like people spend a little less then in January.

That being said, I usually set realistic goals based on my measure of interest I get from people to pony up the money. So far, I know I have a few supporters that always show their support, so that tells me I can pull off a party or 2 this summer. If the measure of interest is increased because sponsors are super big fans of the groups, then I can possibly raise more money to afford a bigger name artist. That's how my Players Ball always works.

This time, what I see with these prices I can pretty much pull off any of these at these prices.

Mickey Avalon $15-25k
Ozomotli $15-25k
Social Distortion $22.5K + all expenses
Tenacious D- $50k
Rob Zombie if he?s closer to $60k
The Strokes $20k to $25k
Queens of the Stone Age $35-50k

All of them would be great. For the ones that are priced lower, it leaves me room to add another cheaper artist if the sponsors are stepping up.

The Strokes might be the best call, then add another name to the ticket if things are going well.
