A way to profit from torrents "the legal way"

I was reading this article on yahoo

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070513/...music_pirates;

about the riaa suing college kids for downloading music.

The story focuses on one student who was sued and they took a stttlement offer of $3000 to avoid a lawsuit..

The article goes on to say 500 other college kids also took the settlement offer and paid the prics.

thats 1.5 million .. thats not bad cash .

Now lets start doing this with the adult industry.. people would be even more willing to "settle" if they were to be sued for downloading "ass raped blondes" instead of "the beatles" cd

heres what you do

buy some content , make a simple site with overpriced dvd's like $50 ..

then let someone share them on the torrents , nice full dvd rips..

find and sue..

How does the RIAA actually find people that download songs?

Don’t stop there, make sure to start suing dead people and children like the RIAA does. Hell… why not take it up a notch! Start suing pets, I’m sure you could get a few dog biscuits out of the deal.

been sued like this before for email spam that a rogue affiliate sent, we had to settle because the legal fees were more than it was worth

basically the guy worked at a law firm as the IT guy, he setup his own little honey pot email addresses and claimed he was an ISP so that he could sue us

him & his co-workers (lawyers) have probably done this a bunch of times... the fucker even served me right here at my door step with his wife

the sad part is it was the affilaite that caused this problem but he still filed suit against us.. really no way to win when that happens especially if they dont pay anything for legal costs :/

Yep? lawyers know the exact sweet spot in terms of low-ball G?s to sue you for to get you to settle. The amount to take it to court is always going to be higher so unless you have a guaranteed win and you are able to counter sue for your lawyer fees it will never be worth it ? unless you are some kind of moralistic hippie douche bag trying to prove something.

Yes I've seen news shows about this guy; he sues every business in entire towns, often not even entering the store or claiming things security tape footage proves is a lie. I kind of like this, because I feel great making fun of the handicapped and not being fucking bothered to help them

I hate those fucking assholes... just not 'individual' lawyers do it either. Not that long ago (close to a year) Dish Network started sending out threats to people who were pirating their signal, offering people to settle for 3k "if they act now". They found out about a lot of people because when an ECM struck their receiver, it would kill it, and the less informed could not repair it themselves and send in the unit for repair. Dish kept the broke units, sent out a new replacement to the individual. Anyways, so many people got suckered in to doing that (settling) -- after the "settle date" passed Dish never followed through because it would have been one helluva court case to prove chain of ownership of the receivers that people had sent back to dish for repair. So Dish banked on making people think they were going to get sued for millions of dollars lmao? which is just as bad imo as the people they settled with.
