I deivered pizza in high school, the people that did not tip went on a list we had at the restaurant. I would bring their pizza's last and cold.

If you don't want to tip, go pick it up.

If you tip well your pizza will get there faster and hotter once the drivers begin to know you.

pizzas deliveries, 4-6 during peak hours, drivers do better if they can make 2-3 stops per trip leaving the store. but even just one can be ok.....if people tip. 2 deliveries per trip is like a hedge against bad tippers.:Oh crap

Was around 5pm-whenever, 9pm, 1am, etc.

I had a paper route of over 800 and a long night was 4 hours (very spread out through town and up river) ...sometimes we have to pick up more slack and do 1200....that took forever!!!

Very hard on the car. and our bodies(girlfriend and I)...i believe it lead to the demise of our relationship as well...

Took us into a ditch once ... theres a ditch in between two driveways and I mistook the ditch for a driveway as the lights were sweeping across is... Shitty times

BlackCrayon 05-07-2007 04:58 PM

i always give the delivery guy a 3 dollar tip.

Screaming 05-07-2007 05:26 PM

i always tip some

JaneB 05-07-2007 06:38 PM

I always tip them at least $5. I figure since I am to lazy to cook that night and they are bringing me my food, they deserve a tip.

nico-t 05-07-2007 06:44 PM

i always tip the pizza dude.... its common here. depends how much but usually 1 or 2 euros.. and they should be happy with that since the pizza joint is about 5 mins from here

Spunky 05-07-2007 06:49 PM

Depends how late they are..usually 5 bucks

Slick 05-07-2007 06:50 PM

I always tip $4-$6 for pizza delivery, depending on how big the order.

Heck, I even tip the girls when I get "Carside To Go" at Applebees.

Scroto 05-07-2007 06:52 PM

always tip.. the same chick comes everytime so she knows us and now it seems the pizza gets here faster lol

TSGlider 05-07-2007 09:16 PM

I tip everybody.

teg0 05-07-2007 09:19 PM

Yes I tip and I tip well. The reason for this is because I've known a lot of pizza delivery guys AND gals. They all say that they keep track, usually in a notebook in the car, the amount of the tips they receive at certain addresses. This helps them determine in the future if they are going to deliver the pizza fast or if they are going to sit outside their house for awhile and not give them their pizza. You give good tips you'll get good service. If you give bad tips and then bitch about the service then its your own fault.

manilaheat 05-07-2007 09:23 PM

i tip $5 - i think tips are good karma and come back to you

notabook 05-07-2007 09:34 PM

I'll tip $5 on average depending on how fast the delivery is. If it takes more than 30 minutes, fuck off, you are not getting a tip. Though I did tip a guy once a few bucks even though he was late... he got lost. I felt bad for him that he wasted so much gas.

potter 05-07-2007 09:37 PM

1. They make shit for wage and rely on their tips.
2. They arn't really compensated much for gas.
3. They're the ones driving your food around town so you don't have to.
4. You tip a waitress, she only has to walk twenty feet from the kitchen to your table.
5. You save money on gas to not have to drive yourself.
6. They're putting miles and wear on thei car for your pizza.
7. Not to mention the dangers of driving, specially if the weather is bad.

You're a douchebag if you don't tip. And I'll put money down that some of your pizzas have had something on them you didn't want to eat. They know who doesn't tip, and that person won't get good service.

dissipate 05-07-2007 09:41 PM

I want a pizza girl who brings me my shit in a bikini.

SilentKnight 05-07-2007 09:42 PM

Nope, no tips.

I don't feel the obligation to fund someone else's poor career choice.

Years ago I did appliance deliveries for a local company (fridges, stoves, washers and dryers, etc.). We also did the appliance hook-ups and hauled away their old appliances. We very seldom got a tip from customers, yet often those same customers had no qualms about tipping the pizza guy at the door.

No parity.

We never expected tips. We were just doing our job for the wage we were hired at (which wasn't much more than what an average pizza delivery dude makes).

Occasionally I might tip an exceptional waiter/waitress if they go out of their way to make a meal a very enjoyable experience. But that's rare these days.

I don't know where you're from but that sounds way off. A normal route is 200-300 papers any given day, some up to 350-400 on sundays. You'd need at least three routes to be throwing 800 on weekdays. And who knows how many for 1200. Maybe if you were throwing two routes with alternate delivery. But alternate delivery is few and far between each year.

Sly 05-07-2007 09:48 PM

I tip $5 and always have my pizza 20 minutes ahead of estimated time. Seriously, like 30 minutes.

You could take some "principal stand" and end up with saliva flavored pizza or you could cough up the gas money you saved and get premium service. Gee... let's think about that.

silver 05-07-2007 09:52 PM

I always give them at least $5.00:thumbsup

Firehorse 05-07-2007 09:55 PM

$5 tip makes me feel good and my Pizza better! :thumbsup

Well i did it with my girlfriend.. and her mother was a high up at the local paper office... we got had the biggest route wich was the combo of three or four...and when the 1200 went down that was the chick that had the second biggest load under ours was out of town...

Thats where I was from...

Kevin Marx 05-07-2007 10:55 PM

$2-4 here.. and my pizza place is a 2 minute drive.... Yes I am lazy

nikooo 05-07-2007 11:02 PM

$1 tip is enough.....

TG Rebecca 05-07-2007 11:17 PM

i always tip about 15% on deliveries. i know there is a delivery fee at a lot of places, but the driver doesn't get that. :( plus with the prices of gas.. ugh. :(

Then I would suggest those drivers do deliveries for a pizza shop where they DO get the delivery fee.

Because I'm not paying for the food, the fee, and then another fee (tip) on top of that.

I tip well, am not a cheapo by any means, but I'll be damned if I'm going to get double dinged for delivery.

It's like restaurants who add a 15 or 20% gratuity to your bill. It's already there, you have to pay it. No way I then pay a second tip on top of that. If the restaurant isn't giving their staff those fees that they've earned the problem is with the restaurant, not the customer.

ayne468 05-07-2007 11:32 PM

we don't tip in NZ:) I like it that way!

That's a harsh attitude. I used to deliver ('til '94) and I can tell you that 9 times out of 10, when we were late, it was not due to getting lost. It was due to the pizza coming out of the oven late. That's a management issue, not a driver issue. Don't make the driver pay.

No it's not, not if you want to be fair. $2 should be minimum.

jesse_adultdatingdollars 05-08-2007 01:10 AM

$16 pizza I tip $4 = $20

facialfreak 05-08-2007 01:13 AM

I usually tip at least 15% of what my pie is worth .....

I have my favorite place in town here that gets my business .... I order maybe 3 times a month, and my pie is on my coffee table in under 20 mins all the time ...

When you order delivery food, the delivery driver is your waitor or waitress ... why would you think they should not deserve a tip, or only $1-2??

Be glad I'm not delivering your pies you cheap asses .... next time I would spit on it!

If somebody serves you, and the service is good, YES they deserve a tip, and in most cases their wages depend on tips!

You sound like a real piece of work. :disgust

Of course I tip delivery people. I can't imagine why you wouldn't. It's a few bucks that allowed you to not get up off your ass to go get your own pizza.

King Adam 05-08-2007 01:25 AM

Tip for sure. There is no reason you can't throw them at least a buck.

Viper2K1 05-08-2007 07:23 AM

I'm not from the US, and where I live tipping is a rare thing compared to the tipping in the US

now, can somebody explain me why you're almost obligated to tip, just because they get paid a shitty wage?
Is it your fault the owner pays them a shitty wage?
Free delivery is free delivery ... they should just calculate that in the price or whatever.

Maybe I'm just confused because here they make sure prices are high enough to include everything.

I remember when I was in Phoenix, we tipped the lady at the window of the drive-through of some fastfood place ... she said she had been working in that industry for years and it was the first time she got a tip :)

Sydney Sin 05-08-2007 07:25 AM

Always tip. Doesn't have to be a lot. $2-$3?

AdultDeals 05-08-2007 07:28 AM

It's up to you but it certainly is not a big deal for me to give the guy a couple dollars to brighten his/her day.

HowlingWulf 05-08-2007 08:17 AM

I figure most of them hate their job. I know I would. Life's been good to me so I always tip $5 for pizza and 20-30% at restaurants and thank the gods I'm not in the service industry.

This is customary for my non-US friends to take this viewpoint. But in the US, you should do as Americans do, and when in Rome (etc) we will do as the Romans do.

TimBlaze 05-12-2007 09:38 PM

yeah my orders usually come out to $17, i give em the $20 bill. if it's over $17 i throw in some extra $1's.

J. Falcon 05-12-2007 10:19 PM

I usually tip everyone, unless the service is complete shit.

I live approx. 5 minutes away from my local pizza place. If they can't get the pizza to me within 30 minutes they are not getting any tip period.

fallenmuffin 05-12-2007 10:42 PM

I tip $2 regardless of order.

stillsexy 05-13-2007 04:13 AM

make your own judgement by looking at their faces...u can tell...

BucksMania 05-13-2007 04:50 AM
