Dean is a good photographer, but what he was doing was NOT telling the truth. He was, as Lensman put it, being an asshole. He ranted ad nauseum well over a dozen times about GFY being slow - even though it never slowed down his self-aggrandizing spamming.
Even so, I think it is evident that he wasn't banned as much for what he said, but rather how he said it, and the motivation behind his words.
Dean started increasing his attacks and including Playboy in his GFY whining posts, and then started peripheral attacks about Playboy's photography, etc, around the time they decided to not hire him as a photographer.
Dean has a major attitude problem. He has a huge ego, and he can't handle criticism. He perceives himself as a Southern gentleman, but then he goes off on people in what I can only describe as a bipolar way when people criticize/disagree with him, or otherwise hurt his fragile ego.
And it doesn't stop with the board. I know from experience. He sent me numerous hostile threatening e-mails in response to exchanges we had on GFY. Donny is the only other person to send me crackpot e-mails, and his were tame in comparison.
Now Dean's over on another board spouting off again, spewing more hate and venom towards Lensman, GFY, and Playboy. I'm not sure if he sent threatening and hostile e-mails to Lensman (as he has done to myself and others), since I assume he will at some point ask to (and I'm guessing someday will be allowed to come back), but I wouldn't put it past him.
If he had have kept his mouth shut, he had friends that he knew were pulling for his early return to GFY, but he seems to be undermining their efforts in his quest to be seen as a crusading martyr.
Over at the other board Dean has even invented a few lies about me, such as I stalk him around the boards (I only posted once ever on any other board about Dean). I was going to post a response on the board where he is spreading his lies (so much for Dean and the truth), a board where I have never even posted, but then I figured why bother.
He's doing a good enough job making an ass of himself over there as well - AlienQ is his biggest defender, LOL. I remember how they used to go at each others' throats here a few years back.
He also implied that I have failed miserably at shooting content. What's that about? I have only shot for my own sites, and I have never sold my content, so I don't know what he even means by a stupid comment like that.
Without revealing how much I make, my ADG site (not my only site) has over 85 models (many whom were shot multiple times), and I've spent well over $200,000 shooting models on ADG alone, using profits from selling memberships featuring my photography. My Members are my clients.
I am well into my 8th year operating profitable web sites featuring my own photography (my only adult business). Commercially speaking, I would say I am a very successful photographer.
Dean on the other hand had to sell failed websites and his failed content site (Planet Content).
His freelance career seems to be taking off, even though he has repeatedly shot himself in the foot by publicly and privately attacking former employers.
A word of caution to him, or anyone else who carries on as he does, is that there are only so many bridges you can burn, even in this very forgiving industry.
I don't wish Dean any ill will. I was as much surprised by his banning as anyone else, although in view of his attitude, I think it was justified.
