Why did the ref break them and let the girl get up safely? Never seen that in UFC? Is that a "girls only" rule?

Because if the person who stands up isn't going to engage on the ground and the person on the ground doesn't want to get caught standing up, you end up with people standing around doing nothing. To stop this, if you don't engage it is stood back up.

nono, that's not what I meant.. The first time they get stood up, the one girl backs up a bit to say "get up", and then the ref jumped in to make sure she didn't surprise attack.. It wasn't a standstill at all. You see all the time in the UFC a guy trying to jump to his feet as fast as possible from the ground, anticipating the other guy smashing him on his way up.

No, I understand what you mean. I think they use the same rules in Pride, but I'm not sure. Basically if you're not going to advance on the person on the ground, and instead you back off, then the ref stands it up.

I think all the ref's except Big John ref in other orgs. (At least I have never seen him)

Herb Dean fights as well (record) as probably some of the others.
