Oh my fucking robot GOD, these people are beyond moronic. Are they proof we are de-evolving? They fed their baby only apple juice and SOY MILK. They wouldn't let the baby have breast milk because they (the idiotic vegans) considered it to be CRUEL to the child. Gee you moronic fucks, which is crueler: Letting your baby DIE from starvation or letting your baby drink breast milk? As a certain wetback would say... DEE DEE DEE.

Parents Convicted of Child Starvation
In the first case of its kind in Georgia, two vegan parents were convicted by a Fulton County jury Wednesday of starving their newborn to death.

Fulton prosecutors painted a grim picture of a newborn murdered by starvation. They said his parents kept only one bottle in the house, and only fed their son soy milk and apple juice.

Prosecutors said it was planned; that their vegan diet was just a ruse. They said 6-week-old Crown Thomas never stood a chance.

"Had the child received breast milk, had the child been adequately fed, he would be alive," said Fulton County prosecutor Michael Carlson.

But the defense and the parents -- Jade Sanders and Lamont Thomas -- said they did what they thought was best for their baby boy. They were vegans. They said soy milk and apple juice seemed like a reasonable alternative.

"They did what they thought was right," said the baby's grandmother, Carlyn Thomas.

Minutes after the verdict, the emotional father said, "We didn't starve my son to death. We didn't starve my son for weeks and weeks and weeks."

Jurors found both parents guilty of murder and child cruelty.

"In fact, the first time he ever saw a doctor was when he was brought dead on arrival to Piedmont Hospital in a state that was clearly beyond malnourishment, but starvation," said Carlson.

"You know we've been vegetarians," said Lamont Thomas. "We're against animal cruelty. So why would I be cruel to my son? We're against animals being burdened. Why would be cruel and burden him and try to drive around and do something with his body? We're going to jail for no reason."

Jade Sanders and Lamont Thomas face a mandatory life sentence in prison for the murder conviction. They remain in Fulton County Jail until sentencing next week.

Seriously though, has anyone here ever looked at the hardcore vegans on TV? Most of the time they look sickly and like they are about to fall over. There was a show on a while ago about diet and aging and the couple on there ate a ultra low calorie diet (no, or almost no meat) and they were going on about how great they felt. I in the mean time was laughing my ass off because they looked like the living dead. Cheekbones and shit all sticking out. Yeah, that is healthy.

That is a bit of a dumb thing to say. You obviously aren't spending enough time in the UK anymore to see and hear the 'anti-milk' campaigns being pushed by Vegan groups or to notice the growth in the 'beyond insanity' animal rights groups.

In Czech people want to visit a new born baby, the family, neighbours and friends all take an interest.

The sad thing about this is it was allowed to happen, a woman is pregnant for nine months, she has people around her sharing in her joy of new life, she has the baby in a hospital, people visit, people KNOW.

What happened that this couple were aloud to stay in isolation and no one knew the baby was not gaining weight and healthy. Is where they live that backward, isolated or do people just not care?

I quit eating meat and my anemia went away. The way the meat industry is ran, fuck eating that dirty flesh. They feed cows chicken shit and other cows, and cows are vegetarians. Its disgusting. I get more nutrients and vitamins eating different vegetables and fruit.

Those people were not educated about how to care for a baby. They should have given him breast milk which is what nature intends if you want to go there.

yeah, I wasn't arguing the good or bad of meat - actually I eat vegetarian 5 out of 7 days of the week just because I find I lose weight a lot easier. I was merely pointing out that it wasn't something that could 'just' happen in the USA.

My grandfather owned a cattle ranch and I've been eating beef all my life. Zero health problems. His cows weren't fed chicken shit, lol. In addition, there are organic farmers you can buy beef from directly from the farm and in stores.

My sister has been a vegetarian since she was 5 and was a vegan for about a year. She was so sick during that year that even she realized it wasn't healthy. She still gets more colds than the rest of meat eaters do every year.

These idiots starved their child through simple ignorance. Why wasn't he taken to a doctor for regular checkups? I remember having a 10 day and 1 month check up for mine - seems someone would have spotted this before it was too late.

But I will say the beef in London sucks ass - sorry Sarah ;) I had to come home and crack open a box of Omaha steaks just to get over the experience!!

Its not. It even has good results for the mother as well.
I have never known a vegan mother that did not breastfeed.

I agree theres no real point in eating a steak or factory produced chicken bodies....other than it tastes good. My health has steadily gotten better since i dropped it from my diet & replaced it with sushi.

fish & wild fowl are perfectly normal staples of diet across the world.
