Who Was Your Favorite Musical Artist In High School?
I have to confess that I was seriously into the hair metal (i.e) Guns N Roses, skid Row, Poison. Tesla, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, However, I still dig those bands...
I loved many bands and different styles back then, so it's impossible for me to pick just one (I have over 1,000 LPs from that era), but Pink Floyd was always near the top (especially when getting stoned, which was pretty much how I went through "High" School)...
Dead: Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison (The Doors), Janis Joplin
Alive: Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Who, Aerosmith, Montrose
Folky: Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Eagles
Artsy: Genesis (Peter Gabriel era), also King Crimson, ELP, Yes
Showy: David Bowie, Alice Cooper
Jazzy: Miles Davis, John Coltrane
I remember I played Santana and War records a lot too when cruising...
I agree...but in the "welcome to the jungle video" a bottle of hair spray on Axl begs to differ
Well, Hair Metal is not called Hair Metal just because of the hair ... it's what that whole scene represented, and the style of the music...
I think Welcome to the Jungle as a song, totally sums up the destruction of Hair Metal.
The sneering vocals of Axl, the ripping sound of Slash and Izzy twinning guitars, the thundering rock sounds of the Duff's bass ... the groove of Steve Adler's drumming....
No gloss... no bullshit. Just raw dirty rock.
I sound like an advert ... but that band meant/means so much to me! :D LOL

High-school. Hmm, I think it was when I got into british pop-rock, like Oasis, Stereophonics, Radiohead, Travis and that kinda stuff...been hooked to that 'niche' ever since.
Before that it was Gnr, nirvana, iron maiden, metallica etc..
Which Prince? I swear every time I looked up in the 80's he was a different person.
I like Prince since the late 70's when he started. Way before he hit pop status. Saw him in concert the first time in Cleveland, Ohio in 1982. 1999 tour.
He released Prince (1979), Dirty Mind (1980), Controversy (1981), and 1999 (1982).

He really has been around a long time. I always recall my high school years. With every new album he looked like some other person. He made sure you never got attatched to one look
