Never ever hit any of my kids - what for? Sure, other folks may have "scenarios" and the reaction may be appropriate or not - can't say.

I agree! Stop analyzing everything! Did you know there are some states that are passing laws where yelling at your kid is considered abuse because it causes emotional developmental problems. What next, if I have a kid and he or she starts smoking cause I smoke, are they going to be able to sue me because it was a learned behavior from watching me.

For those of you that want to bring up the argument, yelling at your kid can be just as traumatic as physical punishment. So what's the difference? Do remember that we're talking about smacking not beating!

well i guess, hitting or spanking your kid is just a part of your discipline..important thing is that you should explain to the kid why you did that and don't forget to show love..:)

My friend has a kid that is 3, and right now he is in a "Fuck You", stage, where it is 80% of his vocabulary everyday.

The other day he wanted to take a ride with me to the store, and I told her no.
When she asked why, I told her,
" Because he is going to say it in front of a bunch of people over and over again, to get a reaction out of me, because he thinks it's funny, and somebody is going to call the cops on me when he starts crying, cause it ain't my kid"

I think spanking in moderation is ok, but I'm still trying to explain to my wife why it's quite illogical to smack our daughter as punishment for hitting someone.

I rarely hit my daughter, I'm more into a stern tone of voice. My "I feel you're about to do something bad" meter kicks in earlier so I tend to warn her sooner.

The old classic of sticking soap in their mouths works like a charm. My daughter was saying all sorts of shit and we put soap in her mouth a few times. That cured that!

Makes me wonder what idiot adult taught a 3 year old how to swear like that by swearing in his presence.
