Hmm, I think Clay wants something different. It's a nice idea, cause if people are sending out loads of mails and each one has your URL in it...great promotion. In addition you may add small footers in each mail, like yahoo does for example.
I don't know much about the technical aspects...but it can't be that hard, some freehosts offer this service, too. If there are more webmasters interested, maybe all together could build a service like this, each webmaster with a domain of her/his choice.
