Sponsor Cancels Promo

One of my sponsors recently send me an email and created a GFY post offering double payouts for the 1st Friday of each month for all 2007. One month after the promo started I notice no double payout. I send a email to support and I'm told "Unfortunately, we had to discontinue double payout days due to unsatisfactory results". If a major sponsor commits to a promotion, should they stick to it??? Comments welcome.

That doesn't sound fair at all...if a sponsor makes an offer like that, don't they have any kind of legal obligation to follow it through?

They should stick to it, because reputation is worth alot, hard to build, easy to lose...but from the legal view, forget it, I can't imagine that they don't have some fine print in their TOS allowing them to cancel a promo like this without prior notification or even retroactive

one more reason to test out your promos on a smaller scale before promising something long term. people need to learn to stop giving away the farm. if you have good shit, its unique, and unsaturated on the web, and it actually converts, people will promote you. all it takes is a fair payout and good support. i never understand why people feel that they need to give away the farm for people to promote you. everyone needs to make a profit, including the sponsor or the game is over for both parties.

Yeah I didn't think of that! Maybe they will contact you when they see this thread...and rethink their deal with you?

I agree. If I were giving out a promo and not sure of it's success, I'd take baby steps...maybe a month at a time.

I'm not worried about any legal action nor am I ready to drop them. In general it's been a very good program and converts well. I really just needed feed back from the pros.

Wrong, especially if they used the promo as a means to gain new affiliates.

Misleading.

if they are willing to bone you on this, they will be willing to bone you on everything else.

Cut your losses and run for the hills.

Here's the GFY thread: https://gfy.com/fucking-around-and-business-discussion/703959-girls-gone-wild-cash-1-anniversary-70-payouts.html announcing the so called promo. Double payouts one day a month is not gonna make or break me. Everyone makes mistakes, but I would have appeciated advance notice the promo was being discontinued with a valid reason.

SO this is going to be case of all talk and no put up ?

AGAIN.

Predictability at times is GFY's most consistent feature.

Exactly, it shows how they run their business and relying on a partner who makes fake promises isn't clever on the long run.
