Blood Diamond - Anyone See This Movie?

I gotta say, I've never really been a huge Leonardo DiCaprio fan but as of late, his movies are great.

This movie was awesome. One of the best I've seen in years.

Yes, and I think he did a great job.

I really liked him in Catch Me If You Can, The Departed, The Aviator, and Gangs of New York

I saw this movie on the plane coming back from phoenix, and I must say it blew my socks off. Leo did a great job in this movie, and the story line overall was fantastic.

Same way here. Was never a really fan of his before. But his recent movies have been pretty good. Aviator, catch me if you can, the departed, and blood diamond, off the top of my head.

good film that missed out from being great by some unnecessary sentimentality added to the plot - ie the girlfriend

He is acting like Johnny Depp. He only chooses movies that are a huge contrast to his normal personality. I really didn't like him in the past but he has become one of Hollywoods better actors.

Gangs of New York was a break out film for him.

I don't know... It was *ok*, but I felt they were really trying to generate sympathy for africans rather than tell the story, especially with the saturday afternoon special message at the end about making sure your diamonds are conflict free... Not really happy with the ending either.

meh.

He has always picked 'interesting' roles...prior to Romeo and Juliet (which lets not forget wasn't exactly a normal film) and getting his major fame he did more artsy films..Basketball Diaries, This Boy's Life (he was VERY good in that)..even Gilbert Grape. It was only Titanic that pushed him into doing more roles aimed at teenage girls. One of the problems for him though is that he hasn't really lost the baby face and that makes it harder to take him seriously.

None of you liked DiCaprio in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?"? That was looongg before any of the movies listed in this topic. That's one of his best roles.

Some how I missed it. But rest assured that I will be renting it this week. Thanks for the heads up.

I remember watching some of his earlier movies like 'what's eating gilbert grape', 'this boy's life', 'basketball diaries' and thinking this kid's got talent and is gonna be huge one day...

I predict an oscar within the next 1-2 years. He's playing Theodore Roosevelt in another Scorcese movie set to come out in 2008-09.

The movie itself was good. Leonardo needs to learn how to hold the correct accent though.

B.S...all that negro did was look clueless, and let a white man tell him where to run IN AFRICA, and do stupid ass shit and look like a hot sweaty screaming black ape with pearly white teeth who couldn't control himself...

I HATED his role in that movie..,,Well I can't really blame him but whoever wrote his part needs to be lynched.
