On behalf of the country that I was born in, raised in, and made my money in, I would like to say that I am really sorry. I think that it most likely has more to do with the fact that people from canada are poor drivers, and look really bad in the speedo's, but you never know. But I am really sorry that happened. One day they will learn. |
it's really funny how customs have their priorities mixed up. They tie you up for 2 hours over nothing, not to mention they are doing this based on the fact they think you might think refuge there. But what a waste of taxpayers money on this crap. Let the terrorists through, we need to stop Stuart because he might be moving here, what a real national threat.

What if you would have said you were meeting with a potential client that wanted to outsourse web development to your Canadian company - do you think they still would have denied you entry?
Just wondering? |

The more they tried to wrap their own heads around it, the more they convinced themselves that I had to be going strictly to do nothing but work. |
dont feel bad. I have been denied access at the border and im american lol.
Someone mentioned they "flag " you so you cant come back in. I dont think this happens most of the time as i have had troubles getting in before and if they deny you , just turn around and take a different lane.. over the last 5 years the "employment" issue is a big deal for the american border crossing agents. If they think for a second you wioll be taking a possible job away from an american they will deny you. Always say your travelling for a short funeral then coming straight back. |
Oh, and thank goodness I have mainstream legit sites, because they actually went to them!
First they hassle me because I make websites and can work from anywhere, then they demand that I give them examples of some websites that I've made as proof that I really am a web developer. I swear, they just saw me coming and said "Let's not believe anything this guy says and have some fun with him." |

NAFTA is all about give and take.
Canada gives everything to the US and the US takes everything from Canada. |

I was helpin raise my two nieces, the youngest was 1, and she's now 15. I can't believe she's in High School already. I know you are...but I can't stress it enough...enjoy it now man, soak up every ounce of it, because there will come that time when they just don't seem to have enough time for you. |

so they took your fingerprints while having absolutely no intention of letting you go thru whatever the results were? lol You got played alright.. Next thing you know they'll start to ask for DNA samples.. along ofcourse the passport... starting in 2008 i think.. Me think they should focus a bit more on the south border instead.. lol |
Stu, next time wait for the female border guard and then put on some of that Axe body spray. The commercials don't lie, women can't resist you with that on.
you'll get through, trust me. :D |

That's all we need in Florida is more Canadians that can't drive.. Finally the boarder patrol got it right :1orglaugh
lol j/k that is pretty fucked up. So they are no longer letting webmasters in the US because of their job? |
That sucks Stuart.
Mabey get a passport and try again flying direct.. Do passports in Canada take along time to get? |

I don't recall ever going through immigration while leaving Canada through an airport until I reach the US. As for the passport thing......That, I was not aware of. I thought a passport was now required for any travel into or out of the US. hmmmm. |

My sympathies, went through the EXACT same thing 2 years ago
Its infuriating |
that's messed up... When you think about it, doctors can do their jobs from anywhere in the world, but I dont think they are turning doctors around at the border.
|
that's stupid...If you were a mexican saying you were about to go pick oranges, you would have been swiftly let in.
|
Same shit happen to me. In my case I told them if I was going down to the US to work, wouldn't I have a laptop with me with all my saved work. It's kinda hard to work on the beach without my laptop. After that they let me in like they were doing me a favor. Little did they know I had everything backed up on my server so I could work when I got down there. Dumbass. lol!
