Imagine trying to design sites and do 3d renderings on a machine with 256 megs of ram, windows xp that is still waiting for activation and using a mouse and tablet that you brought in from home.
Because that's what it was like for Kelly for a few months.Comment

Walkthroughs here are actually required as well, and in fact, if the landlord does not do a full walkthrough report when you move in, you can burn the damn house down practically if you want they can't do much, because they have no proof of what damages where there when you moved in. Had more than a few tangles with the Landlord and Tennant Act with this kind of stuff, landlords trying to blame us for damages that were already in place. This is why I take photos of the entire property when I move in, put it on disk, and give the landlord a copy too. Just makes sense to protect your ass.Yeh I don't know how it works in Canada but thats a pretty standard procedure here. They usually do the picture thing and a checklist... then the deposit is supposed to cover damage (yes, sometimes the owner gets screwed), if there is no or minimal damage, the tenant will receive money back.
On board "fights" between employers and employees is really treading in shallow water. Again, I don't know Canadian law, but here in the States an employer has to be extremely careful about what they say regarding previous employees due to legal risk.

Why on earth Kelly would you leave an 80k/year job, pack up and move 6 hours away for a 40k/year job without at least going and spending a couple days checking out the offices and working conditions first? Then have to have your new boss co sign for house rental and struggle paying rent cause you had no savings? If all the things were wrong with your working environment as you said (pc, office, software, mouse, etc....) then surely that would have been a red flag for you not to take the position."WTF, on google you can find the answer to every question in human history, EXCEPT how to convert cams..

From the sounds of it, he was told that he'd be doing better than the 80k in no time. Evidently Reading isn't your strong point.
Go back to the my big post and read again. I was promised the world.
I did go check out the office , mark showed me all " his " equipment etc , of which turned out to actually be Brad Gosse's ( this guy actually buys good stuff and legal software , but they were located in the same office building)
When I visited the office was shown to me as " one " not two.
Little did I know that NONE of that belonged to GTS.
If you've seen brads pics you know he doesn't fuck around and only buys the best shit .. it was all at the office , it just wasn't GTS's
The reason why I moved is that I thought so highly of Mark and GTS ( like many fools do today ) and took his promises ( Jokes as he says ) seriously.
Live and learn.
I took a leap of faith.
Listen buddy ,I aint stupid,
Weg was paying me much better CASH. however I didn't feel that the work was challenging me fully and wanted to work INHOUSE cause the freelance thing gets tiring ,you need to interact with people in real life.
Move along..Comment

I've read everything just fine, just don't understand the logic of making the huge commitment of packing up and moving with very little savings without having anything in writing and relying on a few pie in the sky promises in the future. Oh and wasn't your last post four pages ago?Evidently Reading isn't your strong point.

Actually, the deposit helps to protect the landlord in case the tenant causes damage and skips out. However, the tenant's liability does not stop at the amount of the deposit.Yeh I don't know how it works in Canada but thats a pretty standard procedure here.
For example, if the deposit is $800, and the actual damage is $1200, the tenant is legally responsible to pay the additional $400.Comment

Actually not true. Unless the laws are different there than in Texas.Walkthroughs here are actually required as well, and in fact, if the landlord does not do a full walkthrough report when you move in, you can burn the damn house down practically if you want they can't do much, because they have no proof of what damages where there when you moved in. In Texas, and in most states, it is the TENANTS responsibility to document the condition at move-in. If the tenant fails to do so, it is assumed that everything was in good shape and working order.
For example, when we lease one of our units, the tenant is handed a move in sheet. They have 72 hours to complete the move in sheet (because things might not show up during the initial walk through) and mail it in. If they fail to do so, they are responsible for ALL damages when they move out.Comment

Well I am very glad that my rentals are all here in Texas.
In Texas, from the minute I decide I want to evict someone to the day the sheriff shows up to move their belongings to the curb, 21 days, often times less.
It is a very landlord friendly state.Comment

The only time we rented via an agent they had a list of minor defects in each room, but it wasn't complete... I took detailed photos of extra things and made them sign the page to prove they were aware of them. When I moved into my place, I did a walkaround with the manager noting every scratch, bump, ding etc. which he agreed in writing as being pre-existing conditions. I think thats fairly standard. And you bet I have my copy saved in a safe place.
Cuz you know the day I move out they'll claim I put the scratch in my countertop, and I'll say O'Rly? and whip out my exemptions.
We cleaned the house to what we believed was an acceptable standard but they still knocked us an extra $150, even after we'd paid $10k+ in rent.
We own now so hopefully we will never have to go through that again.Comment

Here is the moral to the story if your going to take job at half the salary you have now based on promises get them in writing.Secondly never take a job that is a step back in salary. You cant spend promises. Also remember between the two stories somewhere in the middle is the truth.
Also DH must be a master salesman to get someone to leave a job for half pay lol

I will be 100% honest in this thread. I do not like DH.. something about the guy rubs me the wrong way.. BUT, after dealing with machine gun kelly twice, on 2 different design jobs.. hes a deadbeat.. missed deadline after missed deadline.. failure to follow guidelines, unanswered emails.. months of wasted time.. I wouldnt recommend my enemies to this guy.. and for all you "he bought me a drink so he has to be cool" people.. fuck off.. i know what i went through.. end of storyComment
