I always thought he was a bit too pretty to be Peter Parker. The guy is supposed to symbolize the average joe

I have to add that I don't think anyone overrates him though. Everyone pretty much knows that he's only a so-so actor.

Have to admit he surprised me with his performance in "The Cider House Rules" though
