Backstick paradiddles???!!!! Are you kidding me? I'm a marching percussion guy myself. Never have seen that video.....gotta go pick it up.

I love Dave Grohl, but I happened to see "We Jam Econo- The Story of The Minutemen" on tv the other day and I am also going to give honorable mention to George Hurley from The Minutemen & fIREHOSE.

U guys aren't real musicians if you think those are the greatest drummers in music

John Bonham RIP was incredible.

My buddy Travis Barker is amazing...

Dennis Chambers any drummer will tell u, is even more amazing

But to me, the best I have ever seen or heard in person, has to be Stewart Copeland

Dude, I have the "Blast" video where he performs that routine. You literally have to watch it from by frame to actually see him doing it. If you watch it at normal speed you can't even see him flipping his hands.

RedShoe 04-29-2007 05:25 PM

Ecksent,

here's the Blast video of Jeff Queen doing that routine.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=Lx-be2_c_7Q it's a 9 minute video Jeff Queen is the second guy, but watch at 3:13, I think those are the backstick paradiddles. watch his left hand you can't even see him doing it.
After all the drummers use that big long setup you can close the clip.

After the line of drummers Jeff Queen and the first drummer come back out to "battle" and it's kinda silly. They try to make it all dramatic.. kinda weird after that. I'm into drums so I dig it, but I could just do without all the dramatics of the show.

RedShoe 04-29-2007 05:28 PM

I also like Herb the genseng drummer. He drums for Primus.

MrKinkade 04-29-2007 05:36 PM

WHAT no one has said Lars Ulrich of Metallica throw out the st anger album and he is amazing....

tell you one that is underrated big time is Ginger fish from Marylin Manson... if you ever seen him or met him wow he can play

phate321 04-29-2007 05:46 PM

definitely Dany from Tool. To him, drums are not even instruments anymore, its like their a math equation or something. Oh, and Lars is a little bitch! And st anger is worthless piece of crap. the whole band was in therapy during the making of that album and all of them cried like little girls, especially Lars.

IllTestYourGirls 04-29-2007 05:51 PM

he sure is, and if one was to go on abilities per arm, this guy wins hand-s down.:thumbsup but still, ginger baker gave bonham his ideas, ginger baker for sure, double kick bass was his thing. So was copious amounts of heroin.

A lot of great talent mentioned here, but surprisingly no one mentioned probably the best female rock drummer ever: Gina Schock of The Go-Gos. She has done session work for many musicians including John Mellencamp, has written music for a number of movies too. She's no John Bonham, Keith Moon, Carl Palmer, Neil Peart but she at least deserves a mention.

An oldie, but very entertaining:

Jon Theodore anyone? He used to play for the Mars Volta and is very underrated. I'd say he's right behind Danny.
